Amazon's Prime Day is here again this year
Having covered such events for several years, I knew that Amazon's Prime Day was a good opportunity to save on essentials
But the big day came and went, and despite my big plans, my Prime Day budget went unused To make matters worse, when I arrived at work this week, I felt terribly uncreative because all of my co-workers were fussing over the cool products they got during the sale [So I thought I'd make something sweet out of sour grapes by asking the Tom's Guide staff to share their favorite things they bought during Amazon's Summer 2024 Prime Day sale Several of these items are still on sale, and they're all great upgrades that make home life a little easier
You can never have too many chargers, but I bought yet another GaN charger on this Prime Day, even though I wasn't planning to
I bought my first UGREEN GaN charger before CES this year to charge my laptop, phone, and other devices while traveling However, it proved so useful that I bought another identical one for around the house
While looking for Prime Day deals to write about, I kept looking at UGREEN's adorable little robot GaN charger Unlike other GaN chargers, this one has an LED display with a Tamagotchi-like face Not only is this cute, but the robot's facial expression tells you the charging status in real time, no matter what device you have plugged in
For example, when the robot's eyes are up and its lips are curled, it means the device is currently charging; when its eyes are up and its lips are not, it means the device is fully charged
Both my Nexode GaN charger and my new Uno charger output 65W of power and have two USB-C ports and one USB-A port; I plan to leave the Nexode one at home and take the Uno one with me when I travel or work at a coffee shop You can't go wrong with either one You can't go wrong with either one, but the visual feedback from the LED display would be helpful to know at a glance
Outside of the usual purchases I make to continue living like a low-grade survivalist, such as laundry detergent, toilet paper, protein powder, and multivitamins, the big one for me was the last piece of the mega desk puzzle
This is the Vivo Dual Monitor Arm, which allows me to decorate my standing desk with two monitors I've been using it for the past two weeks and having one horizontal and one vertical screen is a dream come true for my productivity
Normally, the average pair of pneumatic desk arms is quite expensive, but at $49 (which is still the price, by the way), this is a steal If you want to know more about my setup, you can read more about it here
The coolest thing I bought on Prime Day was the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max
First of all, it's always cool to get tech gadgets at almost 50% off But the really cool thing about this streaming device is that if you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can now stream Xbox games via the cloud [You just connect the Fire Stick 4K Max to your TV, set it up, download the Xbox app, and connect the Bluetooth controller
I didn't need a gaming console and it only took me a few minutes from unboxing to playing Starfield The gaming experience is also quite good There is a bit of input lag and the picture quality is not perfect, but it did not detract from my enjoyment of the game one bit
The coolest thing from Prime Day was the Govee TV backlight for the 85-inch Samsung TV Normally about $159, it was available at a discounted price of $13647 without tax
I recently purchased my first home and finished the basement It has the latest innovations: reclining seats, a large screen, and backlighting for the TV
The lighting uses a small camera to mimic what is projected on the screen and projects its colors and tones onto the wall behind the TV It makes movies, TV, and video games more enjoyable My next purchase will be a home theater sound system when the price is right
When we introduced “What You Can Buy for Under $100 on Prime Day When I posted my “wish list” before the Megaton sale, I half-jokingly said I would buy an undervalued air fryer
And in the biggest surprise since “The Sixth Sense” when it was revealed that I could see dead people, I actually bought one
The snappily named Russell Hobbs 20L Oven 5-in-1 Rapid Hot Air Fryer, Mini Oven Grill Toaster is currently unavailable on Amazoncom in the US, but the UK version of Mr Bezos' little-known site, was heavily discounted
I bought it with the intention of using it primarily to cook healthy fish-based dishes, but so far I've only used it to heat up a $2 cheeseburger Yes, not exactly the definition of cool But if I suddenly follow in the footsteps of my compatriot Gordon Ramsay and start making low-carb salmon dishes with this puppy, maybe it will be worth the money
That's all for now; I hope you got some good ideas from your Amazon Prime Day spending, and be sure to check out our updated list of the best Prime Day deals still available
