Marvel fans were left reeling by a major surprise announced at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend

Released in 2024 Feige opened with a celebration of the latest and only Marvel film from Marvel Pictures, which was presented with Rob Delaney, aka Peter Poole

It was revealed that “Deadpool & Wolverine” has already broken the box office record for an R-rated theatrical release, bringing the MCU to the $30 billion mark with 34 films in the franchise

The showcase didn't stop there, but I'm not going to spoil the film's success and surprise cameos, so if you haven't seen it yet, avoid social media Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and directed by Shawn Levy, is in theaters now

In one of the more highly anticipated films, or rather remakes, Feige makes his first appearance with director Matt Shakman and Marvel's first family together: Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/ Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Backlash (Ben Grimm/The Thing)

Feige revealed that the film will begin production on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, and that the full title of the film is Fantastic Four: First Steps The cast also revealed a snippet of the film's plot, saying that it will see the Fantastic Four's classic villains Galactus and Silver Surfer targeted to destroy the Earth

“We're doing a 60s retro-future,” he said [Businessman] Syd Mead was an inspiration The 60s to me is all about optimism,” Shackman told fans in Hall H ”I love the 60s I love their power set We want to be true to the comics, but we also want to be true to life”

Hall H later offered more glimpses of the film, with Fantasticker spinning above the audience Fantastic Four: The First Steps is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025

Sam Wilson's Captain America finally makes his MCU film debut in “Captain America”: star Anthony Mackie took to the SDCC stage to show off exclusive footage from the new film, due out February 14, 2025

Captain America: Brave New World tells the story of Sam, who finds himself in the middle of an international incident after meeting newly elected President Thaddeus Ross Sam must find out the reasons behind a diabolical global conspiracy before the real mastermind reddens the world

Next to McKee were co-stars Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez, and Giancarlo Esposito Also joining him on stage was Disney-certified legend Harrison Ford, who was making his MCU debut as President Thaddeus Ross in the film, replacing the late William Hurt

Scheduled for release in 2025, another newcomer, “Thunderbolt,” is an irreverent team-up featuring depressed assassin Yelena Belova, along with the MCU's least anticipated bad band

On stage with Rob Delaney were director Jake Schreier, film stars Geraldine Viswanathan (role undisclosed), Louis Pullman (role undisclosed), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Wyatt Russell (John Walker), Julia Lewis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), and David Harbour, who showed up at the event in Red Guardian formal wear Fans in attendance were also treated to a scene from the film

Leaving the biggest and best announcement for last, Feige brought out Anthony and Joe Russo The studio's highest grossing directors will return to helm Avengers: Doomsday (due out in May 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in May 2027 The Russes' company, ARBO, will produce both films with Marvel Studios and Stephen McFeely will write the screenplays

When the new Avengers film was initially announced, fans were told that the main villain would be Kang, the TVA creator who controls the multiverse However, Jonathan Majors was reportedly fired by Disney and Marvel Studios last year amid ongoing litigation issues

“Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe is a fulfillment of our long-held dream, and we have found a powerful connection with our audience with each film we have produced,” the Russo brothers said

“We are excited to once again work with Kevin, Lou, and the entire Marvel team to take this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places, both for our fans and ourselves”

Joe Russo is the man behind these films Referring to the new villain behind the film, Doctor Doom, he admitted, “If we are going to bring Victor Von Doom to movie theaters around the world, I think it will take the greatest actor in the world to play that character”

“As proof of the unimaginable possibilities in Marvel's multiverse, here is one person who could play Victor Von Doom”

A robed figure dressed as Dr Doom appeared on stage, before it was broadly revealed that Robert Downey Jr would return to the MCU to play the visionary titular villain

But what does this mean for beloved actor Tony Stark? Will anything change in the world of Iron Man? Only time will tell But for now, it's safe to say that Marvel is on its way to finally fixing the MCU
