Top 5 New Shows Available This Week on Netflix, Prime Video, TV and More (July 29-August 4)

With the dawn of a new month, many new shows premiere this week on Netflix, Prime Video, and other streaming services, as well as on broadcast and cable channels.

This week's lineup of new programming includes several new series, including the latest animated Dark Knight adventure, “Batman: Caped Crusader.” British young adult crime drama “A Good Girl's Guide to Murder” will debut across the pond on Netflix. Returning shows “Futurama” and “Unstable” will return for new seasons. Here are the top new shows to check out this week.

The beloved animated sitcom comedy returns with more adventures of Fry, Leela, Bender, Professor Farnsworth and the gang. The show features a deadly birthday party, the secrets of Bender's ancestral robot village, A.I. friends (and enemies), impossibly cute antics, and the true 5-million-year-old story behind the consciousness-altering substance called coffee. The show also returns for the Season 7 finale (one of several “series finales”) to explore the next chapter in Fry and Leela's romance.

Premieres Monday, July 29 at 12 a.m. ET on Hulu

Apple's latest series is a Spanish-language crime drama featuring an all-Hispanic cast and crew, inspired by the thrilling true story of Mexico's first female police officer. set in 1970 Set in 1970, “Women in Blue” (original title: Las Azules) follows four women who defy the norm and join a newborn project. Maria (Barbara Mori), with a strong will to seek justice; Gabina (Amorita Lasgado), whose father is a high-profile police officer; Angeles (Simena Sarignana), a brilliant fingerprint analyst; and Valentina (Natalia Telles), a young rebel. The women soon realize that the unit is a publicity stunt designed to distract the press from a brutal serial killer. However, the girls decide to do what the male officers have failed to accomplish - to apprehend the murderer - and launch their own undercover investigation. Bruce Timm, co-creator of [Batman: The Animated Series], is behind the production of this new animated feature. The tone is noir pulp, the visuals are faithful to Art Deco, and there are no cell phones or computers. Wealthy sergeant Bruce Wayne has just begun his vigilante work as Batman at a time when Gotham City was overrun with criminals and the police were corrupt. His crusade is heroic, but Batman's actions have deadly and unexpected consequences.

Premieres Thursday, August 1 at 12 a.m. ET on Prime Video

Based on Holly Jackson's novel of the same name, the British YA crime thriller aired to great acclaim in the UK last month and is moving to Netflix. Pip Fitz-Amobi (Emma Myers) is a 17-year-old true crime enthusiast living in a small English town. Under the guise of a school project, she sets out to investigate the murder and later suicide of popular high school girl Andi Bell by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. Convinced that Sal was falsely accused and that the real murderer has not yet been caught, Pip teams up with Sal's brother Ravi (Zain Iqbal) to find out the truth.

Father-son duo Rob Lowe and John Owen Lowe return for the second season of this workplace comedy. Brilliant but narcissistic biotech tycoon Ellis Dragon (Rob Lowe) narrowly avoids being removed from the board of his company, ousting his rival Jean (Christina Chang) ...... and blew up her car. In Season 2, Ellis faces the consequences of his actions. He also devises a series of challenges and mind games for his son Jackson, in a twisted “successor” version. But the newcomer (Ramone Morris) may have other ideas about the company's future.
