Previous Pixel phones have been released in September or October, but Google is breaking with tradition at its Made by Google event next month. And the good news keeps coming, with new codes popping up suggesting that Pixel 9 buyers will get some very nice extras as part of the deal.

In a post on The Spandroid, @AssembleDebug seems to promise Pixel 9 Pro buyers free access to Gemini Advanced if they decompile the Google App beta APK (15.28.37.29), It explains that several revealing lines of code were found. [One line with the string name “assistant_zero_state_google_one_p9_eft_upsell_body” reads, “Your Pixel Pro will give you one year of access to Gemini Advanced, our most capable AI model with priority access to new features. access to a subscription to Gemini Advanced, our most capable AI model, at no cost to you.”

Gemini Advanced is a paid version of Google's advanced AI chatbot that offers many useful upgrades compared to the free software. 1.5 pro AI models are included, as well as summary and data cleaning document uploads, the ability to run Python code directly, advanced access to new features, and 2TB of Google One storage.

All of this comes to $20 per month, which means Pixel 9 Pro buyers will save $240 during the free period. After that, it is up to the buyer to continue paying.

The bad news is that the non-Pro offerings seem literally half more generous than the assistant_zero_state_google_one_p9_short_eft_upsell_body “The second string labeled 'your Pixel may have access to a 6-month subscription to Gemini Advanced” only states.

It is interesting that the word “may” is used here, given how clear the first wording was: “Pixel Pro” is one year and “Pixel” is six months.

However, it is important not to read too much into this. Both may simply be retaining text, and it is quite possible that Google has not decided how generous it wants to be at the time of writing. It is worth noting that at one time, the Pixel 8 family came with 4 months of Gemini Advanced.

Assuming that the Pixel 9 will indeed make an appearance at the August 13 event, we should find out in just 29 days. We expect two Pro versions to join the regular model, a 6.1-inch model and the all-new 6.7-inch Pixel 9 Pro XL. All three will reportedly feature the new Tensor G4 chipset and new AI tricks.
