If the first thing you think of when you hear someone mention “Boyz N The Hood” is the song Easy E, I don't blame you. In fact, the film takes its name from this iconic song. But make no mistake. John Singleton's directorial debut stands on its own as one of the best films of the 1990s.

Deemed “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress, the film follows 10-year-old Jason “Tre” Stiles III (Cuba Gooding Jr./Desi Arnez Hines II), who was sent to live with his father (Laurence Fishburne) in Crenshaw after a fight. What follows is a remarkable exploration of growing up, gang violence, and police brutality in the black neighborhoods of South Central Los Angeles. In addition to Gooding Jr. and Fishburne, the cast includes Ice Cube, Morris Chestnut, Angela Bassett, Regina King, and Nia Long.

The days of the Western are long gone, but thanks to Paramount Plus, we can relive one of the genre's greatest films. In “El Dorado,” John Wayne plays Cole Thornton, a hired gun who takes on a mysterious job from wealthy Bart Jason (Ed Aznar). Thornton's old friend, Sheriff J.P. Haller (Robert Mitchum), convinces Thornton not to take the job because of Jason's malice, but that does not stop the bloody and tragic story that follows.

If you like the genre, or if you want to start watching westerns, look no further than “El Dorado.” And despite the fact that several characters die during the course of the film, it is surprisingly comedic and sharp. It is now in theaters at Paramount Plus, so don't miss it.

There is no shortage of Vietnam War films, but it is very rare for a film to receive a 100% perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. This rating is based on only 12 reviews, but with reviews from Variety, the New York Times, and the Washington Post, one can guarantee its quality.

“Hamburger Hill” focuses on a platoon of the 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army, and the 1969 Battle of Hamburger Hill. The battle was a disaster, with 72 dead and 372 wounded, forcing the U.S. to change the way it operated in South Vietnam. With an ensemble cast that includes Dylan McDermott, Don Cheadle, and Courtney B. Vance, it is easy to see why this film belongs in the Vietnam War film canon.
