I'm one of those people who misses the iPod and considers it one of the best products Apple ever made
A new third-party Apple Watch accessory called tinyPod appears to be designed to tap the buttons of iPod nostalgia, including the click wheel feature (h/t Android Authority)
The tinyPod is a case that can be used to turn the Apple Watch into a wristless device; putting the Watch into the tinyPod disables the digital crown, but that's where the click wheel comes in
While fun, this case is expensive at $80 The case is an invitation to nostalgia and not much more practical than that
TinyPod markets the case as “your phone away from the phone”; if you carry an Apple Watch, you can take advantage of Apple Watch features such as calling, texting, music playback, and fitness tracking If you do not have the cellular version, it may not be worth considering this case, as these features will disappear once the iPhone is gone
This case fits the recent trend of companies trying and failing to make devices that make us spend less time looking at our cell phones while providing some of the practicality of why we always use them
It would be an excellent way to carry a watch without wearing a case, especially for those who don't like the feel of a watch on their arms during a workout, such as running or going to the gym
I like the idea of a wristless Apple Watch where you can leave your cell phone, but the $80 price tag is a bit much For those who like the idea, there is the $30 TinyPod Lite model
The TinyPod and TinyPod Lite are currently available for pre-order According to the website, the 45mm/44mm versions of the devices will ship this summer, but the exact timing is unknown After all, we are already halfway through the season, although the 41/40mm and 49mm (Ultra) sizes won't ship until the fall
