Google Pixel users may soon see one of Android's best battery-saving features on their devices as part of Android 15
Recently, the Google News Telegram Channel reported that a new feature called “Charging Optimization” is hidden in the Settings Service app that will be part of the beta version of Android 15 According to the screenshot provided in the Telegram post, this will allow users to optimize charging by selecting Adaptive Charging or limiting the maximum battery level to 80%
Limiting charging to 80% is a great option for those who do not constantly use their phones or are always near a charger, as it means less strain on the battery over time This is an option found in other cell phones, including the iPhone, which has been proven to keep batteries healthier longer On the other hand, adaptive charging, which is the current cell phone option, basically slows down the charge once it reaches 80%, but does not stop charging
However, this feature does not seem to allow for easy adjustment of the upper limit level, as Android and iPhone users are able to do Also, thanks to a report from Android Authority, it appears that your Pixel phone may display a notification prompting you to “try turning on the 80% limit feature to protect your battery health and life”
However, it should be noted that Google has not enabled the charge optimization feature in the latest Android 15 beta, so it will likely not appear on future Pixel phones that are released However, several new features will make up for that omission For example, the way apps will be displayed will be changed so that the entire length and width of the screen will be used, making apps appear more dynamic
As mentioned before, there are not many flashy features in the Android 15 update, but there are plenty of quality of life improvements The new battery capping feature may not appeal to everyone, but it is a big improvement for those who want their phones to last longer
