A teaser trailer for Brad Pitt's film "F1" has been released.

Director Joseph Kosinski looks to follow up "Top Gun" with another thrilling high-octane actioner: "F1," a new sports drama starring Brad Pitt.

Produced in conjunction with the sport's governing body, the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), and filmed at an actual F1 race, "F1" is likely to bring Formula 1 racing to a wider audience.

Over the weekend, the first "F1" trailer was finally released, giving us a clear idea of what this blockbuster will be about.

I liked the "F1" trailer for one reason and one reason only: it was a great trailer.

As the title suggests, "F1" puts the sport front and center, and this first teaser does just that. As is the case with many movie trailers, "F1" does not condense the entire plot into a condensed presentation, but instead gives very little away about the story. Instead, it functions almost exclusively as a showcase for the circuit action that is expected throughout the film.

The only hint of the plot is a brief exchange between Brad Pitt and Kelly Condon in which Pitt's racing driver, Sonny Hayes, urges Condon to prioritize safety in order to "build a car for battle" to take on other F1 teams. Following that, this first teaser shifts up a gear, putting us in the driver's seat and out on the track with Pitt, giving us a taste of the race that will appear on the big screen next year.

While the on-track action certainly looks thrilling (the result of filming the movie at an actual F1 event), as an F1 novice, I found it fascinating that it reveals so little of the story. Just a selection of big screen thrills played by Queen's "We Will Rock You." ...... With this atmosphere established, I was really eager to see what was going to happen.

Indeed, I don't think "F1" (or any other blockbuster sports drama) has the most gripping or dense storyline that has ever graced the screen. I wonder what kind of story this action will match, what kind of emotions it will evoke, and how the real-life F1 racers will play into the story. ......

"F1" revolves around Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt. He is a former driver who returns to the track to race with his teammates in the fictional team "APXGP."

Apple's synopsis for the film reads: "Brad Pitt plays a former driver returning to Formula One® and Damson Idris plays his teammate on the fictional team APXGP. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and co-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment and Dawn Apollo Films, the company of seven-time F1® World Champion Lewis Hamilton, 10 F1® teams, their drivers and the FIA, It was produced in collaboration with the F1® community, including race promoters.

Last year, Pitt gave us a little more background on the film. In an interview with former racing driver Martin Brundle for Sky Sports, he revealed how Sonny was brought back into the fold.

Pitt said: "[Sonny] was a guy who raced in the 1990s ...... He had a bad crash and disappeared in a heap, and has since raced in other disciplines. His friend, played by Javier Bardem, is a team owner. They are the lowest ranked team, number 21-22 on the grid, and have never scored a single point. But they have a young genius, played by Damson Idris, and they bring me in like a "Hail Mary" and all kinds of crazy stuff happens."

"F1" is currently scheduled for release on June 27, 2025.
