The race's first mountaintop finish stage was run off at a furious pace, and the breakaway took until the base of the Col du Tourmalet. Behind, UAE Team Emirates controlled the pace of the peloton all day, setting up Pogachar's attack on the final climb with 3km to go. Pogachar took the stage win and extended his lead, but only by a few seconds, not minutes.

Today's 15th stage set up a climb at the start that tempted a breakaway, and the GC favorites battled it out at the finish line. Lemko Evenpole and Jonas Vingegaard are just two minutes behind Pogachar, so they will believe the race is theirs if the Slovenian stalls.
