Ralph Macchio Teases Miyagi-Related Mystery in "Cobra Kai" Season 6

Because actor Pat Morita passed away in 2005, Mr. Miyagi, the soul master from the original "Karate Kid" films, does not physically appear in "Cobra Kai," but his influence can be seen in the teachings he imparts to his students, including Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) felt throughout the Netflix martial arts series.

However, in the recently released official trailer for "Cobra Kai" Season 6, it appears that Daniel's old karate master will make a metaphysical cameo appearance in future episodes, beginning with the first five episodes on Thursday, July 18 and continuing in three parts leading up to the show's grand finale.

In the trailer, Daniel and Toguchi Chozen (Okumoto Yuji) discover a box from their old instructor hidden under the floor of Miyagi-do. There is a reason why Miyagi-San buried the secret. Once we open it, anything is possible."

"Cobra Kai" co-creator Hayden Schlossberg spoke with ScreenRant about the upcoming Miyagi mystery: "The Mr. Miyagi storyline in season 6 started with trying to understand the past, although we don't have all the answers."

It is very frustrating for Daniel to learn all the secrets about Mr. Miyagi that he kept from Daniel.

Schlossberg revealed that realizing that his mentor, whom Daniel "thought was the most perfect and idealistic person ever" actually had flaws, would be a major conflict for the character in season 6. He added, "Mr. Miyagi is a human being, and he wasn't necessarily born a wise man, he wasn't born a man with all the answers, he wasn't born a man with all the answers.

In a recent interview with Collider, Makio discussed Miyagi's influence on his character and how it will affect Daniel's personal arc going into "Cobra Kai" Season 6. Daniel] always mentions the greatness of Miyagi and Miyagi, and he does so through his students and friends." Early in the series, there were scenes with Tanner [Buchanan] and Robbie where they would adapt Miyagi's teachings, whether it was bonsai or training, in the Larusso and Jersey way, which I embraced and enjoyed.

"But there are times when he dives so deep into his heritage that, as you say, he has trouble distinguishing his own beliefs. I think this season will open up that can of worms where he's second-guessing himself about a mentor he can never find the truth about and has to come to terms with it all personally," Macio added. It's a big arc of the season, and we're headed into part two, and part three will certainly resolve it." I look forward to fans seeing that.

"Cobra Kai," one of Netflix's biggest shows, will close on July 18 with part one of season six. Part 2 will follow on November 28, with the final five parts to be announced in 2025. Tom's Guide will keep you up to date on the latest news about Season 6, including behind-the-scenes, casting information, and the showrunner's views. Until then, you can watch the first five seasons of this martial arts comedy-drama again by subscribing to Netflix.
