"Get Out" must be one of the best horror films ever made. Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya), a young African-American man, visits the mansion of his white girlfriend, Rose Armitage (Allison Williams). Initially, Chris is worried about how Rose's parents will react to their interracial relationship, but he soon discovers that the seemingly friendly and accommodating behavior of the family hides a dark secret.

As Chris uncovers disturbing truths about the Armitages and their community, he finds himself in a terrible situation. The film's themes of racism and social justice, combined with suspense, psychological horror, and sharp social commentary, earned it critical acclaim.

"Alien" is one of my top five favorite films, so I had to include it on this list. Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is rescued from space and reports an encounter with a violent extraterrestrial known as a "Xenomorph."

When contact is lost with the human colony on the moon LV-426, where Ripley's crew first encountered the aliens, Ripley is persuaded to join a team of Colonial Marines sent to investigate. Upon arrival, they discover that the colony has been overrun by a horde of violent aliens. Ripley also bonds with Newt (Carrie Henn), the only surviving girl of the colony, and together they must survive while escaping the relentless alien threat. Watch this classic sci-fi horror and you're in for one heck of an experience.

"The Monk and the Gun" is set in Bhutan in 2006. It depicts the clash between tradition and modernity in a remote Himalayan village. This particular story centers on Buddhist monks and the impact of Bhutan's first democratic elections. An American enters Bhutan in search of a valuable antique rifle and crosses paths with a monk in the mountains. An interesting aspect of this drama is the juxtaposition of the monk's spiritual journey with the advent of democracy, and the focus on the tensions and cultural changes brought about by this historical moment.
