The trailer for A24's "We Live in Time" featuring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh is now available.

In order to compile our recently released ranking of A24's best films, we have been rewatching some of A24's best films over the past few weeks. But if the new trailer for the upcoming film "We Live in Time" is any indication, we may soon have to reshuffle our rankings because this romantic drama looks amazing.

The first trailer for "We Live in Time" was just released today (July 10), and this two-minute teaser offers an early glimpse of the film that will have audiences reaching for tissues. To say that this drama is emotionally charged is an understatement, and if the trailer alone is this tear-jerking, you'll be in tatters by the time you leave the cinema.

The drama is directed by John Crowley, who helmed the gorgeous 2015 romantic drama "Brooklyn," and stars Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh; A24 has not revealed many details at this stage, but the film's tagline is this : "An up-and-coming chef and a newly divorced woman find that a chance encounter brings them together in a deeply moving decade-long romance that changes their lives forever." It is guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes.

The first "We Live in Time" trailer is a bit long there, and while I expect some cards to be kept close to the chest, it serves as a fairly effective mood-maker and gives us some plot details. [For starters, Tobias (Garfield) and Almut (Pugh) seem to meet for the first time in a rather odd way, with Almut running over Tobias with his car. That's more like the infamous "How did you meet?" question, which is certainly a more interesting answer than "I met him on Tinder."

The trailer also flashes back to various moments in their lives. They celebrate their anniversary, discover that Almut is pregnant, and various other happy moments in their life together are shown. In the second half of the trailer, however, Almut falls ill, and the couple's bond seems to be put to a great test.

I have to admit, I enjoyed this trailer and this first look has catapulted "We Live in Time" to my most anticipated movie list ("Alien: Romulus" is unquestionably at the top), but it is a bit too spoiler-filled for my taste.

So be warned that this is a fairly comprehensive snapshot of the film. See at your own discretion.

If the trailer for "We Live in Time" caught your interest, naturally you're wondering when you can see the film yourself next.

The A24 drama is currently scheduled to premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival in early September, but if you can't make the trip out to the Great White North, you won't have to wait too long to see it in theaters.

"We Live in Time" will have a limited theatrical release in the United States on October 11, 2024. A24 will handle distribution in the U.S., while Studio Canal will handle distribution in other major markets, including the U.K. and Australia. Unfortunately, no release date has been announced for these territories, but fingers crossed that it will be released in October.
