Google makes it easy to see if your information is on the dark web.

Even if you're meticulous online, your personal information can still end up on the dark web. Fortunately, Google will soon offer an easy way to see what data hackers may have about you.

As reported by 9to5Google, the search giant will make its Dark Web reporting feature available to all users.

According to Google's official documentation, once a profile is set up, the service will monitor the dark web and let you know if your personal data has been exposed through a data breach or data leak.

When the dark web reports back, you can see if your name, address, phone number, email, username, and password were found online. If you live in the U.S., you can also check to see if your Social Security number was found. However, for this to work, Google will need to add a U.S. billing method to your monitoring profile.

Currently, Google's Dark Web reports are available in 46 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and France. It is worth noting, however, that the type of personal information scanned may vary slightly by country or region.

Dark Web Reporting is expected to be available to all Google users in July, after the feature is officially removed from Google One.

Your personal information can easily be used by hackers for fraud and identity theft if you are not careful. We recommend the best identity theft protection services, especially for those at high risk.

Recovery from identity theft can take months, if not years. Still, by subscribing to these services, you are not only covered by up to $1 million in identity theft insurance (or more), but also have a team of experts standing by to help you recover your personal information. Since identity theft protection can be expensive, here are some free steps you can take to keep your personal information safe online.

You want to make sure you are using strong, unique passwords for each of your accounts. That way, if you are hacked, you don't have to worry about other accounts being compromised as well. If creating your own passwords is too much of a hassle, the best password managers can create them for you and even store and auto-fill them securely for you. There are many free password managers out there, but Bitwarden is currently our top recommendation.

From here, you want to limit the amount of information you share online. This means not sending sensitive data such as addresses or financial information via email or messaging apps.

Many of the best anti-virus software suites offer services similar to Google's Dark Web Report, but having everything in one place may make it easier to stay on top of your cyber hygiene.
