In the early 1980s, Eddie Murphy was known primarily for his cutting-edge stand-up comedy and appearances on Saturday Night Live. This film (along with "48 Hours" and "TRADING PLACES/Trading Places") propelled him to international superstar status.

The story follows Detroit detective Axel Foley, who goes against the wishes of his local precinct and the LAPD to Beverly Hills to solve the murder of his best friend. Sergeant John Taggart (John Ashton) and Detective Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) are assigned to keep an eye on Foley. But after several harrowing and hilarious close calls, the trio band together and bring the killer to justice.

After adjusting for inflation, "Beverly Hills Cop" is the highest-grossing R-rated film in the United States since 1977. It is widely regarded as the best comedy, action-comedy, and overall film of all time. After spawning two more theatrical sequels, a fourth film titled "Beverly Hills Cop: Accel F" has just been released exclusively on Netflix.

Lawrence and Murphy are still active today, but the argument can be made that Kevin Hart is their successor in Hollywood. At the very least, the Philadelphia native followed a path much like that of the two comedic legends, having found success on the standup scene before taking his talents to the silver screen. And he is probably best known for his frequent collaborations with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. But before teaming up with the former WWE champion in a cinematic tag team, he had great chemistry with Ice Cube in 2014's "Ride Along."

In the film, Hart stars as a security guard on a mission. He is desperately trying to prove to his girlfriend's cop brother that he is worthy of marriage and family. However, things get a little hectic when he gets caught up in an investigation of a nefarious arms dealer (Laurence Fishburne). Despite their initially strange familiarity, Cube and Hart's characters eventually open up to each other and to audiences around the world.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, Ride Along topped the box office in January 2014. The two leads re-teamed for a sequel, which was equally enjoyable for viewers, especially because of the chemistry between the two leads. Another sequel is in the works.

The last film on the list is from writer Simon Kinberg and director Doug Liman, both of whom are well versed in action and comedy, and both of whom are also in the process of developing their own films. Lehman's resume includes Swingers, The Bourne Identity, and Edge of Tomorrow. Kinberg, on the other hand, has written "Sherlock Holmes," "XXX," and numerous "X-Men" scripts. However, he is also the writer of 2005's Mr. & Mrs.

The film stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as John and Jane Smith, a couple who meet in an exciting situation in Colombia and are forced to make a decision about their relationship. They met in Colombia under exciting circumstances, but as the years went by, their lives gradually became more mundane and they settled down in a middle-class suburb of New York City. At least, that's what they both wanted to think. In fact, they were each vicious hit men who were hiding their true identities. But when one job goes wrong, Mr. and Mrs. Smith's paths finally cross in the field. Then they are ordered by a rival company to take care of each other.

"Mr. & Mrs. Smith" is a wonderful mix of shooting action, charming comedy, and unconventional romance. It's all very clever and incredibly entertaining. Basically, it's exactly the type of movie you want to see during the summer movie season.
