Delta Emulator Announces iPad Support - Here's what you need to know

Delta, a retro game emulator, is getting its first major iOS update, which will also include support for the iPad.

Recently, Delta's developer, AltStore.io, announced on X that it has reached 10 million current players. As part of this milestone, AltStore.io stated, "Delta's first major update is here and is fully optimized for the iPad! Delta 1.6 is available at AltStore PAL and will soon be available on the App Store.

According to a recent report from 9to5Mac, this latest update does more than simply port the iPhone version of the app to the iPad. Delta on iPad includes several iPad-specific features. These include support for opening multiple Delta windows and playing Delta in Stage Manager and Split View. In addition, each console skin will be optimized for the iPad and will support full screen.

iPhone users will not have to be too disappointed, however, as the smartphone version of the update includes several new features. Delta 1.6 includes new app icon options for past and current Patreon users, new long press menu button gestures, melonDS core 0.9.5 support for better DS game compatibility, and Pokémon fans on their iPhones It makes it easy to play all the games in the series.

Apple has long avoided putting emulators on the iPhone, but the rise of Delta shows that users really want an emulator for the old-school console. However, Apple is strict about what it designates as a console, banning the PC emulator UTM SE from its store, for example. It must also be said that Apple has recently changed the way programs are downloaded and is working to improve games on the Mac.

The constant growth of Delta and other emulators is great and means a bright future for retro gaming on both the iPhone and iPad. However, AltStore.io is not the only one in need of improvement, as Apple is preparing a major update for its devices.
