Ninja launches frozen drink maker

Following up on its viral Ninja CREAMi, Ninja has unveiled another summer must-have Launched this morning, the Ninja Slushi promises a hassle-free frozen drink

The frozen drink maker can turn any drink, from chocolate milk to wine, into an ice-cold Slushi without the need for ice It can also keep drinks chilled for up to 12 hours; it has five settings to choose from for the type of drink you want, and you can adjust the temperature of the frozen drink according to your preferred consistency

I can't wait to get my hands on Ninja's latest creation to review, but with the scorching summer just around the corner, I wouldn't be surprised if it sells out quickly

You may already be making frozen drinks at home, in fact, it's one of my tests when reviewing the best blenders, but the crushed ice melts within minutes, making the best frozen margaritas weak and watery

Ninja's solution? Remove the ice completely Using an auger to spin the drink around a central cooling cylinder, the Ninja Slushi uses a WhisperChill compressor to make frozen drinks in just 15 minutes and freeze drinks for up to 12 hours It can be filled with anything from soda and juice to coffee and wine, but it needs sugar to create a slushy consistency

While families have no problem firing up the Slushi for use, they can also choose the Premium XL capacity, which can make enough drinks for a large group of people

The machine has five settings to choose from:

There are also ten temperature variations to choose from, but the specific temperatures do not seem to be marked, so it may take some guesswork to find the right one for your drink

I have tried almost all of Ninja's gadgets and have yet to be disappointed with their innovations My first impression of the Ninja Slush is that it is surprisingly slim and I can see myself happily spinning it in a corner of my kitchen on a hot summer day It's also nice that it doesn't get in the way, since it will most likely be used for several hours at a time

I also like the look of the ergonomic handle used to serve drinks You can see this from the spout at the top of the machine If you run low on drinks, you can easily refill them without interrupting the cooling process

As for capacity, the minimum is 16 ounces and the maximum is 64 ounces, or about eight drinks Ninja's will also have a larger capacity XL for those who like to entertain

Those who have already invested in the Ninja Creamy Deluxe will have a frozen drink setting that can make Italian ice, slushies, creamichinos, and other frozen drinks

At $269, the Ninja Slush is actually more expensive than the Creamy Deluxe and has fewer features that can be done However, while both machines can make frozen drinks, they do so in very different ways: the Creami requires that the drink be frozen for 24 hours before mixing on the Frozen Drink setting, which must be done in 24-ounce increments Once mixed, the drink begins to melt almost immediately, while Slushi can keep drinks frozen cold for up to 12 hours

Slushi's pouring capabilities are also ideal for use in crowds, as the machine has a built-in cooling mechanism that bypasses the freezer and chills drinks from room temperature or refrigerator temperature
