My favorite PS5 launch game is getting a sequel this year.

For many early adopters of the PS5, the standout title in the console's launch lineup was probably "Demon's Souls" or perhaps "Spider-Man: Miles Morales": the console version. Years later, the game remains a mainstay on my PS5 hard drive.

Earlier this year, "Planet Zoo," the sister title to "Planet Coaster," debuted on PS5 and Xbox Series X (PC version coming in 2019). While I enjoyed taking care of all kinds of exotic animals, it was no match for the thrill of building the perfect roller coaster. So you can imagine my delight when I saw the announcement of "Planet Coaster 2."

"Planet Coaster 2," due out later this year on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, will allow players to design, build, and manage a theme park, just like its predecessor. It is your job to take complete control of every aspect of the park and create a park that will capture the imagination of your guests and, most importantly, make them pay big bucks for it!

An important new addition in "Planet Coaster 2" is the water attractions. I spent my childhood obsessed with "Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Soaking Wet," so just the thought of designing a dream water complex with colorful waterslides makes me grin with nostalgia. I can just imagine the smiles on their faces as they actually play.

Other new features include improved building and passing tools and the ability to add new custom elements to rides. There will also be a wide variety of new rides and coasters. The game will offer three different modes: "Career," "Franchise," and "Sandbox," as well as a "Frontier Workshop" where you can visit your friends' parks (and try out rides) and share your creations with the Planet Coaster community. A series of online features are also available, including the return of.

Developer Frontier Developments promises to premiere gameplay on July 31, followed by a live stream with "exciting reveals and new content" on the last Wednesday of each month. At this point, however, there is no need to watch anything else. The first trailer alone, "Planet Coaster 2" has my full attention.

Expect hands-on impressions of Planet Coaster 2 later this year. Because when this sequel is released, I will be starting all over again.
