We are just over a month away from the Made by Google event, where the entire Pixel 9 series, including the new XL model and the rebranded foldable phone, is expected to make its debut
Many leaks have already emerged regarding the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold However, there have been no leaks on pricing; as Android Authority discovered, the French website Dealabs leaked the European price of the new handsets this week
Some handsets have received price increases, while others appear to remain at the same price
Here are the alleged prices in euros with a quick conversion to USD These conversions are not exact prices, but they do suggest an increase in prices
Pixel 9
Pixel 9 Pro
Pixel 9 Pro XL
Pixel 9 Pro Fold
To begin with, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold appears to be the same price; according to Dealabs, the first Google Pixel Fold was launched for EUR 1,899 In US dollars, the price could be $1,799, the same as the original Pixel Fold
With Samsung's recent price increase of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 to $1,899, Google could make the Fold a more attractive device by keeping the price the same
Since the Pixel 9 Pro XL is a new device in the Pixel lineup, there are no existing Pixel phones to compare it to However, it can be compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, which start at $1,299 and $1,199, respectively
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pixel 9 Pro XL in that range, and based on the conversions, it seems like this phone is headed in that direction
Like the Fold, the Pro model appears to be priced the same as the Pixel 8 Pro Last year's device launched for $999, a $100 price increase over the Pixel 7 Pro Fortunately, Google does not appear to be raising the price again
Slightly more troubling is the base model of the Pixel 9: according to Dealabs, the base model will be raised by €100 from €799 to €899 The Pixel 8 went on sale for $699
If this leak turns out to be accurate, it will continue the unfortunate trend in 2024 of tech companies raising the price of new devices
Again, the conversion is not accurate, and these prices are what is expected when the Pixel device launches in France, where international pricing can often be different than in the US
Still, it is a good starting point to get an idea of how much a new Pixel phone will cost, especially if the price is raised and how much a new phone like the XL will cost
