Top 10 Prime Video Movies - Here are 3 worth watching now

If you're looking for something new to watch on Amazon Prime Video, the streamer's "Top 10 Most Watched Movies" list is useful because it provides a snapshot of the movies that are generating the most interest at the time. However, a ranking on the list is no guarantee of the quality of a movie; it is a guarantee of the quality of the movie.

I track Prime Video's Top 10 movie rankings daily and regularly see entries that do not deserve a spot on your watch list. To that end, I've picked out my current favorites, and here are three movies worth watching. Current highlights include an over-the-top action epic, a comedy steeped in guilty pleasure, and a modern remake of a classic Western.

Here are three Prime Video movies to watch right now. One last thing: this list is based on the Prime Video Top 10 as of Friday, July 12 at 6:00 AM ET.

I am not usually a fan of the particular action thrillers for which Jason Statham has made his name, but The Beekeeper is a rare exception. I appreciate this film because it is completely self-aware. The Beekeeper is one of the most ridiculous films I've seen this year, but it doesn't try to hide that fact and asks the audience to accept its absurdity. If they do, they will enjoy it immensely.

In The Beekeeper, Statham plays Adam Clay, a former member of a super-secret organization known as the Beekeepers. Clay now leads a simple life tending to a hive of bees (why he is so obsessed with bees is never explained), but when a close friend falls victim to a cruel scam, Clay sets out on a one-man revenge mission, confronting a former CIA director (Jeremy Irons), an arrogant fellow technician ( Josh Hutcherson), which puts him at odds with them.

I don't usually recommend films like "Space Cadets," as they are not as good as the original. But as someone who grew up in a household where 2008's "Wild Child" was basically played on repeat (my sister watched it every day), this glossy Emma Roberts comedy is oddly nostalgic. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon and guilt-free fun, but don't blame me if you agree with the critics!

"Space Cadets" is a fish out of water story, as is often the case, featuring Rex (Roberts), a party girl who would never expect to be part of NASA's elite training program. But when Rex fakes her way through the applicant pool, she joins the ranks of the most elite candidates in the field. She is not a traditional candidate, but it soon becomes clear that NASA might be able to use her street smarts.

2016's "The Magnificent Seven" is a remake of the 1960s film of the same name, the American version of 1954's "Seven Samurai." In other words, if you are looking for an original concept, this film does not have it. But if you are looking for a modern western with a stellar cast, this fun action epic will entertain you.

Starring Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, and Vincent D'Onofrio, "The Magnificent Seven" centers on desperate townsfolk living under the thumb of a ruthless industrialist. Seeking protection, they hire a nomadic bounty hunter (Washington) and gather six more gunmen to take on the big businessman and his henchmen. With an epic showdown on the horizon, the seven outcasts, who at first only care about the reward, soon find themselves forging a true bond.
