Netflix New: 5 Movies and Shows to Watch This Week (July 1-7)

Hard as it is to believe, July is here. A new month means more new Netflix releases. Take, for example, the new "Beverly Hills Cop" produced especially for Netflix. Starring Eddie Murphy.

Murphy returns as Axel Foley, who takes on the mean streets of 90210 while protecting his daughter. In addition to working with her ex-boyfriend (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) to keep his daughter safe, he uncovers a huge conspiracy that could change things in the glamorous city.

There is also "The Man with a Thousand Children," a bizarre documentary that spans 11 sperm banks in the Netherlands and around the world and follows the story of a Dutch man who tricked hopeful parents into using his sperm to have the child they dreamed of having.

But there's more to come after that, so here's a day-by-day look at new Netflix shows starting in July.

This sports documentary delves deep into the world of sprinting, following a diverse group of world-class athletes from six countries (the United States, Jamaica, Great Britain, Ivory Coast, Kenya, and Italy). Focusing on the competitive dynamics of American stars Noah Lyles and Fred Curley and Italian standout Marcell Jacobs, the film follows the intense rivalries and pressure moments that characterize the sport. Also featured are Charli Richardson of the United States and Shericka Jackson of Jamaica, who are hard at work preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics. [Eddie Murphy reprises his role as charismatic detective Axel Foley. Set in the present day, the film follows Foley as he returns to the streets of Beverly Hills after his daughter's life is in danger. To protect his daughter, Foley must team up with her former boyfriend (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and enlist the help of familiar faces from his past. As this unlikely team closes in on the mystery, they become embroiled in a far-reaching conspiracy.

This three-part documentary series explores the shocking story of Jonathan Meijer, a Dutch man who, on the surface, seemed the perfect sperm donor for countless would-be parents. Initially, Meijer insisted that sperm donation be limited to a few families. But as the series unfolds, it becomes clear that his deception knows no bounds. The story unravels as it is revealed that he provided sperm not only to 11 sperm banks in the Netherlands, but also to numerous individuals across various countries and continents. This film reveals why Meyer did what he did and what was on his mind at the time.
