This new superhero show made Netflix's top 10 list.

Prime Video's "The Boys" is Netflix's latest superhero drama to make the platform's top 10 list. That's because Netflix's newest superhero drama made the top 10.

"Supacell," the new original series in question, is currently (as of July 1) in second place, just below the popular crime documentary "Worst Roommate Ever." With its rapid rise up the ranks, it is clear that viewers and critics alike are loving this new superhero drama.

"Supacell," created by British rapper and filmmaker Rapman, is about ordinary black Londoners with superpowers, but there is more to the story.

If you've seen this recent addition to Netflix and are on the fence about whether to give it a look, here's more on "Supacell" and reviews from top-rated critics.

"Supacell" focuses on a group of ordinary people in South London who suddenly develop psychic powers. The only obvious link between them is that they are all black, and now they must navigate the impact of their powers not only on their own lives, but on others as well. Only one man can unite them, and he is charged with the mission of protecting the woman he loves from a secret organization.

The film stars Tosin Cole as Michael, Nadine Mills as Sabrina, Josh Tedek as Taser, Eric Kofi Abrefa as Andre, and Calvin Demba as Rodney. Adelayo Adedayo also stars as Michael's girlfriend, Dionne, who plays a very important role in the story.

Rapman is the creator, showrunner, screenwriter, and lead director of this six-part film. He created the crime thriller Blue Story and the three-part YouTube series Shiro's Story.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Rapman said: "I wanted to make a show that you could take away the superpowers and still enjoy.

"Supacell" is currently at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes (as of July 1), but that is based on only a handful of seven reviews. With ratings as high as 84%, there is a good chance that this new superhero drama will be renewed for a second season.

Empire magazine's Alex Godfrey says: "In a world of white noise TV shows, this drama is impulsive and compulsive. Thought the days of superheroes were over? Enter Rapman.

Meanwhile, Dan Einav of the Financial Times commented on how unique the series is: "It uses the superhero genre to examine how power (its presence, absence, or denial) affects black lives in a society still rife with prejudice and inequality. The film examines how this affects the lives of black people. [With a killer soundtrack and unpredictable storyline, Rapman's series is one of the best streaming surprises of the summer.

Viewers also praised the series' "excellent character development" and "top-class CGI." By the looks of things, the first season was so short that people may start demanding a second season.

If you're looking for something to stream this week, "Supacell" should be your next binge-watch show.
