Google Pixel 9 Video Leak Reveals Design a Month Early

Somehow, the Google Pixel 9 is already available in some parts of the world, and one enterprising user has already shared a video for those of us still waiting for the new Pixel.

The new video shared by Hani Mohamed Bioud on X is apparently from Algeria. It consists of a few seconds of pink Pixel 9 footage, showing a cell phone being waved in front of a camera.

The phone shown in the video matches the Pixel 9 renderings we saw earlier, and pink is one of the rumored colors; Bioud also claims that the phone has 256GB of storage, another credible figure. The display side is visible, but there is no indication that it is powered on, making it difficult to tell if this is a real or a dummy model.

Google does not sell Pixel phones directly in Algeria, which could be read as further evidence that this leak is genuine. However, Pixel can be found through resellers outside of Google's own network. Resellers probably have less stringent security and are thus able to upload phones to social media.

As for the design itself, other than the new flat sides and slightly reworked rear camera rubber, the basic model seen here is not that much different from the Pixel 8. However, more dramatic changes are expected at the top end of the Pixel 9 series.

The Pixel 8 Pro is likely to be succeeded by two different models: a new 6.1-inch device that is expected to be named the Google Pixel 9 Pro and another 6.7-inch model called the Pixel 9 Pro XL. This would be the first time since the 2019 Pixel 4 series that Google will offer Pixels of different sizes with otherwise identical specs.

Google has casually teased that it will hold its next Made by Google hardware event on August 13, where it will unveil its ninth-generation Pixel flagship phone; rather than waiting a month and wondering what else the new Pixel will have, Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL hubs to read more rumors.

And don't forget the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This is Google's second-generation foldable and is said to feature a new naming style in addition to hardware and software upgrades.
