Netflix got one of my favorite sci-fi franchises - and now I can watch all three movies.

As a child, few things matched the excitement of watching a Sunday afternoon marathon of Back to the Future. It wasn't just a movie, it was a journey through time, one that I eagerly participated in again and again and never got tired of. So imagine my delight when I learned that Netflix, one of the best streaming services, had recently added the entire "Back to the Future" trilogy to its lineup.

This means that whether you are a longtime fan like me or a newcomer looking to experience one of the greatest sci-fi franchises of all time, you can now binge-watch all three films from the comfort of your couch. Revisiting Hill Valley, seeing the iconic clock tower, and watching Marty navigate the past, present, and future is truly magical. The humor, the heart, the unforgettable characters, all of it makes you feel like you're reunited with an old friend.

Believe me, there is no better way to spend a weekend than diving into the world of "Back to the Future." The "Back to the Future" series has been in the works since the first film, when teenager Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) accidentally travels from 1985 to 1955 in a DeLorean time machine built by his friend Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown (Christopher Riordan). He travels back in time. Marty must find a way back to his own timeline, risking his own existence, while accidentally preventing his parents from meeting and making sure they fall in love.

In Part 2, Marty and Doc travel to 2015 to prevent future disasters, but accidentally create an alternate 1985 in which Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson) is powerful. They must return to 1955 to restore the original timeline and regain their original lives.

Then, in Part 3, set in the Wild West, Marty travels back to 1885 to rescue Doc, who is stranded in the Old West. Facing challenges, including a confrontation with Biff's ancestors, they strive to return to the 1980s, and in the process Doc finds love as well.

This classic franchise has had a major cultural impact, with memorable characters, iconic dialogue, and the DeLorean time machine becoming a symbol of the science fiction genre. And it has been praised for its entertaining storytelling, humor, and emotional depth, making it a beloved trilogy for fans around the world (including me).

"Back to the Future" is one of those franchises with real heart, and all three films have an emotional core in their focus on family, friendship, and teenage angst. I watched these films when I was younger (and watched them over and over again as an adult), so these themes really resonated with me.

However, you can't ignore the bond between Marty and Doc Brown, can you? Their friendship is another source of warmth that comes from mutual respect, loyalty, and genuine caring. Doc's dedication to helping Marty get home, often putting his friend's safety before his own, shows the true strength of their friendship.

Along with heart comes humor. This classic franchise combines witty dialogue, physical comedy, and situational irony when Marty must confront his past with his young parents. Doc Brown's eccentric personality and dramatic quips, such as the famous "Great Scott," also make the film more comedic.

If you ask me what my favorite sci-fi franchise is, I'll probably say "Aliens," but there are times when I'm not in the mood for horror (no matter how much I adore the haunted house atmosphere of space). In those cases, I turn to classic franchises like "Back to the Future."

As I watch Marty navigate the challenges of time travel, I see a piece of myself in his journey. There is something incredibly comforting about the franchise's emphasis on building real connections. And it all comes down to simply being human.

But what really makes "Back to the Future" feel like home is the warmth of the characters and their relationships. The bond between Marty and Doc Brown is a beautiful portrayal of a friendship that transcends time itself. Their adventures, full of challenges and fun, mirror the ups and downs we experience with our loved ones (and life in general). Each time I watch these films, I feel as if I am reunited with an old friend who reminds me of the importance of loyalty, courage, and a sense of humor. [In a way, for me, "Back to the Future" is more than just a movie series; it is a reassuring reminder of timeless values that make life meaningful. I know I can find laughter, warmth, and stories that feel like home.
