OnePlus has been on a roll lately, with the OnePlus 12 receiving high marks across the board. One of the main drawbacks, however, has been its below-average IP65 water resistance. This is a major drawback compared to the iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy smartphones.

New leaks suggest that OnePlus will make significant changes to the OnePlus 13, with Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station suggesting that OnePlus may offer IP68 or IP69 in its next smartphone. If the latter, it would surpass competitors like Samsung, which offers an IP68 rating on its flagships.

The OnePlus13's full water and dust resistance could surpass some of the best smartphones on the market. Even if the company opts for IP68 instead of IP69, it will be an important upgrade for fans of more affordable flagship devices.

The IP69 rating (especially 9, since 6 stands for dust) means that the phone is certified to withstand high pressure and hot jets of water. It also provides the same water resistance as a cell phone with an IP68 submersion rating, insulating the device from continuous submersion.

The IP rating table shows that the IP69 rating is the highest rating currently offered. What other phone makers can do is to get in line with OnePlus. However, this is only a leak, and there is no official confirmation that OnePlus plans to offer a higher IP rating. However, given that the company is lagging behind other brands, some increase is to be expected.

Other notes on the OnePlus 13, as reported by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, a 2K "micro curved" screen, and a silicon-based "super-sized" battery (though the actual size was not shared), 100W wired charging, wireless charging support, a Hasselblad-branded triple 50MP camera system with 3x 50MP periscope lens, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a larger vibration motor.
