On July 1, 2024, LG will launch its wireless M4 OLED TV globally, following its low-priced LG B4 OLED TV.

The LG M4 OLED uses a similar design language to the basic specs of the LG G4 OLED, but instead utilizes LG's Zero Connect Box for wireless connectivity. This is similar to Samsung's proprietary wireless connectivity "One Connect" box found on some displays in Samsung's 2024 TV lineup, including the Neo QLED 8K, The Frame (2024), and Neo QLED 4K. [The LG M4 OLED has an MLA OLED panel in a chassis that supports 144Hz refresh rates, and could steal the spotlight from Samsung. It comes in four sizes: 65", 77", 83", and 97" models.

LG has not yet revealed pricing for the U.S. and U.K., but shares a Euro amount, starting at €5,000 for the 65-inch base TV; according to LG, the Wireless M4 OLED will officially launch in major markets worldwide on July 1, but reservations in the U.S. have not yet started.

With the M4 OLED, LG is clearly trying to compete with Samsung's dominance in wireless displays. Like its predecessor, the M3, the new M4 OLED utilizes the Zero Connect Box, a sophisticated multipath technology that communicates in the uncongested 60 Hz wireless bandwidth and connects at ranges up to 10 meters.

We don't expect the M4 OLED to be among the best TVs under $1,000, so despite its expensive price tag, it remains an interesting addition to the growing lineup of OLED displays. Earlier this year, LG unveiled its Transparent OLED in development, detailing LG's commitment to bold thinking when it comes to delivering the best TV on the market.

Given that the LG G4 OLED performed excellently in our lab tests and that the M4 OLED carries essentially the exact same specifications as this display, it is safe to assume that this new wireless OLED TV will have some clear advantage in the market. mla may prove rewarding for those willing to pay a high premium as well as take advantage of the exciting new Zero Connect Box along with LG's new Alpha 11 processor in the panel.

That said, without official pricing in the U.S., it remains to be seen how successful the LG M4 OLED will be in the market. Last year's M3 OLED TV launched with an MSRP of $4,999 for the 77-inch model, but that price may be locked in for the newly introduced 65-inch configuration in 2024, whatever the Euro price.

Also, while the M3 OLED is marketed as a wireless TV, it is not exactly truly wireless, as it requires a power input to operate properly; the Zero Connect Box is essentially a wireless connection to standard inputs, primarily HDMI. In contrast, something like Displace TV is literally completely wireless, using battery power and a Connect Box to zero in on the connection to the display.
