7 new Prime Video releases that received 90% or more on Rotten Tomatoes

[Prime Video, one of the best streaming services, is bringing the heat with an impressive slate of acclaimed films.

It's hard to know where to start when it comes to the best new Prime Video movies this month. Without a doubt, one of the biggest new releases is Mission: Impossible/Dead Reckoning: the latest Mission Impossible film starring Tom Cruise. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, with previous Oscar-winning and critically acclaimed films such as "Silence of the Lambs," "Private Ryan," and "A Separation" also on the horizon.

We've compiled a list of Prime Video's best new movies that scored at least 90% on the comprehensive review site Rotten Tomatoes. High scores don't guarantee a hit, but they are clear proof of a film's quality. Without further ado, here are the best new Prime Video movies you can watch this month.

Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, cinema's greatest super spy. In "Deadly Hallows Part One," the seventh installment in the long-running blockbuster franchise and the first half of a two-part film, Hunt and his team, Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), deliver the high-octane car chases, daring stunts and elaborate fight sequences.

This time, the crew is crisscrossing the globe in search of two interlocking keys that, when combined, will give them access to a deadly artificial intelligence called "The Entity." Every nation on earth is racing to get their hands on it, including the ghosts of Hunt's past. Sure, the story is on the ridiculous side, but that hardly matters when the film is this entertaining.

"Silence of the Lambs" is one of my favorite horror films, and its arrival on Prime Video is the perfect excuse to watch it again. Anthony Hopkins' iconic performance as Hannibal Lecter never ceases to make my skin crawl.

Jodie Foster is equally captivating as Clarice Starling, a tenacious FBI agent apprentice given the impossible task of consulting a convicted cannibal to flush out a new serial killer on the loose known as Buffalo Bill. Director Jonathan Demme uses ingenious camera tricks to heighten the general sense of unease and to recreate Clarice's conflicted otherness as one of the few women in her profession.

Released in 1976, the film marked the beginning of an enduring franchise that continues to this day. Rocky was the archetypal sports movie, and its tale of an underdog overcoming insurmountable odds became the template for numerous genre films that followed. Few, however, can match the timeless appeal of the original.

"Rocky," with Sylvester Stallone as the titular Rocky Balboa, won multiple Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. The sequels up to "Rocky V" have just been released on Prime Video, so this is the perfect time to take a closer look at one of the greatest sports series of all time.

Steven Spielberg's "Private Ryan" is one of the most famous war films of all time, set on the European front in 1944 and starring Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) as Private James Ryan ( Matt Damon) and leads a small group of men on a mission to locate and bring home Ryan, whose three brothers were killed in action.

Captain Miller and his courageous team endure unimaginable hardship on their arduous journey to find Private Ryan. With unwavering determination and a strong sense of honor, they face their obstacles head-on and bond over their shared suffering in the most brutal war in modern history. Although "Private Ryan" is famous for its opening depiction of the Normandy landings, there is more to it than its iconic opening. It is why it is considered Spielberg's best film.

A slightly more family-friendly film is How to Train Your Dragon 2. You don't have to have seen the original. The film begins with a young Viking, Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), and his dragon, Toothless, who bring the two together and are now an unbeatable adventuring duo.

But when they stumble into new territory inhabited by wild dragons and meet Hiccup's long-lost relative (Cate Blanchett), they soon learn a deeper and more complex family history. Beloved for its engaging characters and new lore that expands the characters and the world they live in, "How to Train Your Dragon 2" is one of the few sequels to rival and even surpass the original. It also perfectly captures the spirit of adventure that captivated young audiences in the first film.

This Academy Award-winning Iranian drama has been hailed as one of the best films of the past decade. When banker Nader (Peyman Mahdi) refuses to leave Tehran with his family to continue caring for his aging father, his wife Simin (Leila Khatami) asks for a divorce so she can have a better life abroad for their 10-year-old daughter.

The family court denies the application, but they still separate and go to live with their respective parents. Needing someone to take care of his father while he is at work, Nader hires a married woman from a poor family named Razi (Saleh Bayat). Angered by her father's treatment, Nader pushes her away, and that same day she terminates the pregnancy she had been hiding from him.

A perfect adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel, this is one of the Coen brothers' films that I always go back to. The two protagonists, hit men Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) and Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin), find themselves at odds when Moss makes a drug deal gone wrong and stealthily steals a suitcase full of cash.

Local sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) is assigned to the case and does his best to protect Moss, but he too secretly lives in his own moral gray area. Bardem's Chigurh, who roams the wilderness with an air-powered pistol, is the most brilliant actor in this thriller. His chilling performance puts him among the greatest villains in the history of cinema.
