Netflix has some of my favorite horror sci-fi movies.

I'm a sucker for a horror film, especially one that perfectly blends the suspense of science fiction. The thrill of the unknown, the eerie silence of outer space, and the creeping dread of something going horribly wrong - the combination is irresistible. So when I stumbled across the best movie about aliens on Netflix, I knew I had to see it again.

"Life" is not just a movie about the universe going crazy. It is an intense, gripping thriller that keeps the viewer engaged from the first second to the last scene. The performances by the all-star cast, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ryan Reynolds, are nothing short of amazing.

If you like intense space adventures with spine-tingling scares, "Life" should be your next watch. This is a truly underrated film that didn't get much buzz when it was first released.

"Life" is a gripping horror sci-fi film that makes the viewer uncomfortable, but believe me when I say it adds to the experience. Set on the International Space Station (ISS), the film follows a group of six astronauts and scientists who investigate soil samples taken from Mars in an attempt to find evidence of extraterrestrial life.

As you can probably guess, humans and alien life are not very compatible. As seen in my favorite sci-fi film series, "Alien," chaos ensues when an organization attempts to gain control of and exploit a dangerous life form (of course, the Xenomorphs always win). This is also the case in "Life," where the group does not want to use it as a weapon, but only to study it.

So what is wrong with this? After examining the samples, the group at the station discovers a dormant single-celled organism, which they name Calvin. This organism begins to grow and evolve rapidly when exposed to an oxygenated atmosphere.

Initially, Calvin appears to be a harmless, even fascinating discovery, but it soon becomes clear that the organism is highly intelligent and possesses dangerous levels of adaptability and strength.

Starting out as a somewhat "cute" creature, Calvin's eventual transformation into a ferocious creature is always a highlight of the film. Hugh Derry (Ariyon Bakare), the British scientist who first studied Calvin, thought it was a harmless creature and became emotionally attached to it. And he was wrong.

None of the characters react the way real people would in such a situation, making the film more believable and frightening.

Aside from the angry alien creatures, what I really appreciate about "Life" is its ability to explore the unknown while maintaining a high level of suspense and action.

Throughout the duration of the screening, I find myself clinging to the edge of my seat, screaming at the screen, and suffering from incredible tension. And though it may not sound like it, all of these reactions are proof that this is an amazingly worthwhile film to watch.

Still, if you need a little more convincing to see this film, the stellar cast may sway your decision. Life star Jake Gyllenhaal plays Dr. David Jordan, a medical officer who spends more time in space than on Earth.

Rebecca Ferguson plays Miranda, a CDC quarantine officer responsible for ensuring the containment of potential contamination from space. And Ryan Reynolds stars as Rory, a maintenance engineer who provides much of the film's comic relief (obviously, it's Ryan Reynolds).

Other cast members include Ariyon Bakare as Delly, Hiroyuki Sanada as Sho, a Japanese astronaut who communicates with his family on Earth, and Olga Dikhovichnaya as ISS commander Ekaterina.

If you are looking for a thrilling movie to watch one night or weekend, you should definitely watch "Life" on Netflix. It's an interesting exploration of humanity's curiosity and the potential danger of discovering alien life forms. It's perfect for those who love the "Alien" series, and even if you don't, "Life" is a great movie.

While "Life" does not break new ground in the genre, nor does it stand out as a masterpiece of space-based thriller cinema, it still has everything one could ask for in a space-based horror film. The visual effects are perfect, the terrifying alien creatures are brought to life, and the film is realistic and terrifying.

So if you're a fan of science fiction, horror, or simply like a well-crafted suspense film, "Life" is definitely worth streaming on Netflix. You can also check out the best horror movies of the summer and read my take on the incredible "Alien: Romulus" trailer.
