Over the years, the LEGO Group has produced numerous movie and television sets These include a plastic version of the DeLorean from "Back to the Future," a massive set from "Star Wars," and an amazing recreation of Rivendell from "The Lord of the Rings And today (July 4), Steven Spielberg's summer blockbuster "Jaws" is the latest to be immortalized in brick form
The new set, originally conceived by fan designer Johnny Campbell as part of the LEGO Ideas Community Platform, consists of 1,497 pieces and features the shark Bruce as the Orca, Martin Brody ( The set recreates the infamous sequence in which Martin Brody (played by Roy Scheider), Matt Hooper (played by Richard Dreyfuss), and Sam Quint (played by Robert Shaw) are attacked by the Orca
The set comes with LEGO minifigures of the three shark hunters and a large amount of accessories, including a removable roof for Orca, an adjustable boom, a harpoon, a spear, and a yellow barrel that Brody, Quint, and Hooper used to track the shark's movements in the open ocean
The set can be assembled on a brick-lined saltwater platform to launch the shark on an orca, or the shark can be displayed on a stand-alone platform Because it is covered with tiles printed with Brody's iconic line: "We need a bigger boat"
Fans can get their hands on this new set next month Those registered with LEGO Insiders will be able to purchase them starting August 3, 2024, and everyone else will be able to purchase them on the LEGO site and in LEGO stores starting August 6, 2024 Embedded below is its "mini-movie": note the surprise minifig cameo of a certain famous film director at the end!
About the set, designer Johnny Campbell says: "'Jaws' is my favorite movie, so I really wanted to recreate it with LEGO bricks Building LEGO has always been a part of my life in some way, but in order to capture all of the small details, I actually freeze-framed it while watching 'Jaws' so that I could take notes and catch glimpses of the small details
