9 New Movies and Shows to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Max and More (July 5-7)

July kicks off with streaming fireworks in the form of spectacular new movies and shows to watch this weekend on Netflix, Max, and other top streaming services.

There are two new comedy films this weekend. One is "Beverly Hills Cop: Accel F," a sequel to the popular 90210 franchise in which Eddie Murphy solves crimes on 90210. The other is Space Cadet, a wacky comedy in which Emma Roberts tries to go to space.

On the TV side, Discovery's annual Shark Week begins, and NatGeo's Shark Fest features more marine predator action. Here's what to see this weekend.

July could be called National Shark Month. That's because of the annual "Shark Week" on Discovery, hosted by John Cena. Not only that, but NatGeo's SharkFest has even more shark-related content (see below).

The shark celebration begins with "The Belly of the Beast: Bigger and Bloodier," followed by special programs like "Shark Frenzy: The Mating Game," "Jaws vs. Leviathan," "Expedition into the Unknown: Sharks vs. Nazi Paradise," and "Great White Shark Danger Zone."

Premiering Sunday, July 7 at 8 p.m. ET on Discovery (via Sling) and Max

National Geographic has decided that one week is not enough for a shark-fest. Sharkfest will run for a month with over 22 hours of original programming and 60 hours of enhanced content on National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Mundo, ESPN2, Disney Plus and Hulu. Highlights include "Shark Beach with Anthony Mackie: Gulf Coast," "Baby Sharks in the City," and "Shark Attack 360."

[A film about Amy Winehouse would be hard-pressed to be as good as the 2015 Oscar-winning documentary "Amy. Back to Black, while Marisa Abella gives a transcendent performance as the late singer, doesn't come close to that level of greatness. Its shortcomings lie in its melodramatic mythologizing of Winehouse's life. Still, Abella's curiously Winehouse-like body and singing voice are a sight to behold.
