Google Announces August 13 Surprise Event - Expect Pixel 9 and Pixel Watch 3

Just when you thought you had heard it all at Google I/O, the company announced that it will hold another summer event on August 13 in Mountain View, California.

According to an invitation received earlier today, the company will give a keynote presentation from 10:00 am PT to 1:00 pm ET, followed by hands-on demos, where Google will "showcase the best of Google AI, Android software, and the Pixel device portfolio."

Last year's Made by Google event took place in October, when the company unveiled the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2. So we may be seeing the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel Watch 3 for the first time, albeit a few months earlier. We imagine the rumored Pixel Watch 3 XL and Pixel 9 Pro XL will also be unveiled at this event. We may also see the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, rumored to be the successor to last year's Pixel Fold.

Google announced a number of AI features and initiatives earlier this year, and this event could showcase more examples and how they work with these new hardware devices. For example, we may see how new AI features in Android 15 work, such as Circle-to-search enhancements, real-time fraud alerts, TalkBack, etc.

Google has been a curmudgeonly company this year with its product launches. Most expected the Pixel 8a to be announced at Google I/O. Instead, this mid-range phone was announced a week before that.
