OnePlus will hold a new product launch event in China on Thursday (June 27), where it will unveil several new non-mobile devices.

We already know that a new Pro version of the amazing OnePlus Pad will be announced. A new smartwatch is also expected to be announced, but there have been conflicting reports about its name.

Promotional materials posted on the Chinese social media site Weibo showed off a device that OnePlus is calling Watch 2. The new device will feature OnePlus' new "glacier battery," which, if the promotional material is true, will lead to a battery revolution.

OnePlus has not released the Watch 2 smartwatch in China, which is a bit confusing since the Ace 3 Pro will likely be a China-only phone. Initial speculation was that the smartwatch to be announced on Thursday would be the Chinese version of the OnePlus Watch 2. The OnePlus Watch 2 is a great wearable that is a significant improvement over the original OnePlus Watch and is one of the best Android smartwatches available.

However, Android Police discovered a tweet from regular leaker Max Jambor in which Android Police saw a new watch on the Indian Regulator site with the model number OPWWE234, similar to the Watch 2's OPWWE231. That gives credence to the theory and Jambor, even if its original tweet is annoyingly vague and provides no factual information.

The OnePlus promotional image seen on Weibo looks a bit different from the Watch 2. The band is textured rather than smooth, and the frame around the watch face looks more like a traditional watch than the usual circle of glass with rounded edges like most smartwatches.

The knobs also appear to be different, with two on the right side of the watch; the Watch 2 has one knob and one button.

If the new watch is a Watch 2R, it will usually be a more affordable version; OnePlus has prepared the R name for lower-priced versions like the OnePlus 12R and OnePlus 12 phone. 12R costs $500 and the flagship model 12 is priced at $800.

There was speculation that OnePlus might launch the OnePlus Watch 3, despite the fact that the company just announced the OnePlus Watch 2 earlier this year in the US, but the prevailing rumor seems to point to a cheaper Watch 2R. Thankfully, we will find out soon enough to quash this speculation.
