"Lions" (tentative title) is the next project from "Baby Reindeer" creator and star Richard Gadd. Announced two months before his hand-picked drama becomes one of Netflix's biggest shows, this new drama is sure to be another hit. And now the show has another big name involved: HBO.

Today (June 27), HBO announced that it will co-produce Gad's six-part drama with the BBC. The series revolves around two estranged "brothers," Ruben and Niall, and chronicles the ups and downs of their lives from the 1980s to the present day.

In a statement about the partnership, Gad (who wrote and executive produced "Lions") wrote, "Ordering the HBO box sets of 'The Sopranos,' 'The Wire' and 'Oz' and watching them from start to finish was one of the happiest moments of my childhood."

"Since then, it has been my dream to work with HBO and be a part of their iconic shows. I am so grateful to Francesca Orsi, Carla Buckley, and Krynn Lavigne for this show and for giving Ruben and Naia a chance! I can't wait to get started."

From what we hear, it will still be some time before "Lions" hits the screen. The project was first commissioned by the BBC in February 2024, and as of this writing, a release date has not yet been confirmed.

In a statement at the time of the announcement, Gad said at the time: "When I first started talking about this project with the wonderful Tully Garner and Morven Reed, it was love at first sight. For them, anyway. I genuinely wanted to be professional. With Lindsay Salt, Gaynor Holmes, and the amazing team at BBC, I am so excited to be working with them to bring Reuben and Niall to the screen."
