Earlier this year, Apple announced that it would bring AirPlay to hotel televisions in select locations in the United States The goal is to allow guests to stream content from their iPhones and iPads to their in-room TVs This rollout was expected to be rather slow, but Samsung has given it a welcome boost
Samsung announced that AirPlay support will be rolled out to its hospitality TV series This will allow more hotel guests to take advantage of this service, allowing them to easily and securely view their cell phone content on the big screen
The system scans a QR code from the TV to establish an AirPlay connection, which automatically connects to the hotel's Wi-Fi network However, this will not work if the software is not installed on iOS 173, iPadOS 173, or any later version Therefore, be sure to update your device before you travel
Samsung also confirmed that none of your information will be stored and any paired devices will be automatically deleted upon checkout
Unfortunately, what Samsung did not say is which hotels will offer AirPlay with Samsung TVs Therefore, the rollout's availability still depends on whether hotels actually turn on the feature However, the company claims that hoteliers can easily update their management systems to support AirPlay
Some people, like me, travel with some sort of streaming device It is not the most convenient thing in the world Don't forget the device, remote control, extra cables, etc It is also important to be able to access the HDMI port on the TV without having to dismantle half the room
Many modernized hotel rooms have HDMI ports for exactly this purpose, but that is by no means a guarantee Also, if you log into a streaming service on a hotel smart TV, you run the risk of forgetting to log out
Frankly, installing a compatible wireless streaming system in the room is a much better option It doesn't matter if that is AirPlay or Google's Chromecast And the more companies that deploy such capabilities, the better the hotel stay will be
