Sarah Michelle Gellar Signs with "Dexter": Original Sin

The prequel to the new "Dexter" will air on Paramount Plus, and it has a big star. Sarah Michelle Gellar will star as young Dexter Morgan's boss in the Miami Metro Police Department.

"Dexter: Original Sin" dives into the backstory of Dexter and his dark passenger. Michael C. Hall will not reprise his role as the protagonist, as he is a younger version of this serial killer. Patrick Gibson will play him instead. Since this is a prequel, you don't have to have seen the other "Dexter" films to jump in.

In addition to Geller, the show has secured other big names such as Christian Slater, Patrick Dempsey, and Molly Brown. The plot revolves around young Dexter, a student-turned-revenge serial killer in 1991 Miami. The birth of Dexter's Code was created with the help of his father Harry.

"Sarah Michelle Gellar is a pop culture icon and the perfect complement to a best-in-class cast, including Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey," Nina L. Diaz, President and CCO of Content at Showtime, said in a press release. She stated. [We are excited to have her return to the Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios family and join the origin story of the 'Dexter' series," she continued.

Geller is best known for her role as Buffy on the 90s show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Although she was only a high school girl, Buffy had the extraordinary ability to take on some of the most brutal vampires. Dexter: In the world of "Dexter," there are no supernatural beings for her to fight (only serial killers).

Unfortunately, a release date for the new "Dexter" prequel has not yet been set. Hopefully, this show will be among Paramount Plus' best shows, but only time will tell. (As far as the reception of "New Blood," the sequel to "Dexter," is concerned, the jury is still out on its decision.)
