AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 Live Stream: start time, card, how to watch online

Forbidden Door, now in its third year, kicks off tonight, and unlike the last two events that brought AEW and NJPW together, this time around Stardom and CMLL will also be on hand for what has the potential to be the best Forbidden Door event yet.

Forbidden Door is always a good time to watch the crossover between AEW stars and wrestlers from other companies. This time it's in the form of New Japan Pro Wrestling, NJPW's sister company Stardom, and Mexico's CMLL.

The UBS Arena in Elmont, New York will host the 2024 edition of Forbidden Door, which will feature a group match as well as a big AEW vs. AEW showdown, with AEW International champion Will Ospreay challenging Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Title.

Forbiddingly, the event will be held at the same venue.

Forbidden Door has proven to be one of the standout PPV events of recent years, and this latest event should be remembered fondly by the end of 2024 as well.

Forbidden Door has always been an event where the obvious main attraction is to see the stars of rival promotions lock horns, often for the first time. Despite this, this year's main event is expected to pit AEW talent against AEW talent, as AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland will defend his title against AEW International Champion Will Osprey. The two may have clashed over the years, but both are now very different performers, and this is a matchup that could be a Match of the Year candidate once 2024 is over.

But if the focus is on inter-promotional infighting, there is plenty at the forbidden door: IWGP World Champion John Moxley will be defending his title against former champion Tetsuya Naito, while "Timeless" Toney Storm will be defending his title against "The Boss" Tetsuya Naito. 'Timeless' Toni Storm will defend her AEW women's title against Stardom's Mina Shirakawa.

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone and NJPW Strong Women's Champion Stephanie Bakker have gold on the line in a winner-take-all match. The skillful Zack Saber, Jr. finally went head-to-head with "Freshly Squeezed" Orange Cassidy. Recently returned MJF faces CMLL legend Hicicero. The Learning Tree's Chris Jericho and Big Bill team up with NJPW's Jeff Cobb to take on Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Hook, while The Elite's Okada Kazuchika and Nicholas & Matthew Jackson take on iconic Hiroshi Tanahashi and The Acclaimed's Anthony Bowens and Max take on Caster.

Keeping with the crossover vibe, New Japan's always great El Fantasmo will face Jack Perry, Mark Brisco, Dante Martin, Lio Rush, and Konosuke Takeshita in a six-way ladder match for the vacant AEW TNT Championship. Bryan Danielson will face Shingo Takagi in the first round of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament.

But that's not all, for those eager to check out the Zero Hour pre-show, there are four more matches available, bringing the Forbidden Door card to 14 matches.

The most notable Zero Hour bout will kick off the women's Owen Hart Cup tournament, with Mariah May facing fellow British grappler Saraya. Keeping with the crossover vibe of the Forbidden Door, Zero Hour will see Yota Tasuji, Titan, and Hiromu Takahashi take on Ray Phoenix, Penta El Zero Miedo, and Mistico, while Chris Statlander will team with Momo Watanabe to face Willow Nightingale and Tam Nakano. Saturday night's AEW Collision presented Private Party vs. House of Black vs. Kyle O'Reilly and Tomohiro Ishii vs. Roderick Strong and Gabe Kidd.
