All new Hulu shows and movies in July 2024.

Summer is hotting up, and Hulu is also heating up with a buffet of new shows and movies: July sees the return of the popular animated comedy "Futurama" and ABC's long-running dating show "The Bachelorette." Other new Hulu Originals include the true-life drama "Mastermind": also on tap is season two of Marvel's adult-oriented animated series "Hit-Monkey."

If you're wondering what to watch next, there are plenty of movies to look forward to this month. For those who like horror films, Jordan Peele's "Get Out" will be on the platform. And for those looking for something a little more family-friendly, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" is coming to Hulu this month.

Here are some of the best movies and shows to watch on Hulu in July.

Last year saw the unexpected return of Futurama after a 10-year hiatus, and this month the Planet Express crew returns for more new episodes with the premiere of Season 12. The highly anticipated Season 11 quickly became one of Hulu's favorites, with fans and critics alike praising Hulu's back-to-basics approach to revival.

With Season 11, Hulu has brought back the sharp wit and humor that made the original episodes so beloved, while also folding in necessary updates to some characters and relationships, and judging by the 86% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers greatly appreciate it. While it remains to be seen how the story will play out in Season 12, many of the beloved cast members will be returning, including Leela, played by Katey Sagal, Amy Wong, played by Lauren Tom, and of course, John DiMaggio as Bender, the irreverent, beer guzzling robot.

"The Bachelorette" is back for its 21st season, and love is in the air. This time around, former "Bachelor" contestant Jen Tran will be handing over the rose, becoming the first Asian-American lead on ABC's popular dating series.

On July 9, Tran embarks on a journey to find the man of her dreams. She will choose her soulmate from a cast of 25 men, including an aerospace engineer, a sommelier, and a startup founder named one of Forbes' "30 Under 30". Her journey now begins at an iconic Los Angeles mansion and takes her to destinations across the United States and around the world.

Executive producers Dakota and Elle Fanning's new documentary "Mastermind": the film delves deeply into a female FBI agent whose innovative skills transform the fight against crime

One time, the film was made in the United States.

At one time the only woman working for the FBI, Dr. Anne Burgess learned to think like a serial killer through an illustrious career investigating the most heinous murders of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. As part of her research, Burgess interviewed notorious serial killers such as Ted Bundy, Monty Russell, and Ed Kemper to peel back the layers of their damaged psyches and see what patterns could be gleaned for future cases. But her work went far beyond the FBI, shining a spotlight on the plight of American women.

The first "Sonic the Hedgehog" was an unexpected delight, bucking the trend of most video game adaptations being absolute flops. And the sequel sees the blue Blur (voiced by Ben Schwartz) once again facing off against the evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey), along with a few other friends that fans will recognize.

As in the previous film, Carey enlivens every scene in which he appears, but Idris Elba is equally delightful as Knuckles, the dim-witted but formidable echidna who is a pawn in Dr. Robotnik's revenge plot. Sonic's new best friend Tails (voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessy) also joins the cast and adds to the story. I really enjoyed "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" when I saw it in theaters, and I heartily recommend it if you're in the mood for a fun, lighthearted film.

Jordan Peele arguably changed the horror landscape with his 2017 debut, "Get Out." The film masterfully blends the slow psychological tension of horror classics like "The Shining" and "Rosemary's Baby" with poignant social commentary on racism, the pitfalls of neoliberalism, and the portrayal of black characters in horror films.

Daniel Kaluuya plays Chris Washington, a young black photographer who is invited by his white girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), on a trip to visit her family compound. But what begins as a typical weekend trip soon turns into a nightmare as Chris uncovers disturbing secrets about Rose's family and attitudes toward race. Horror fan or not, "Get Out" is a gripping and thought-provoking film that should be on everyone's must-see list.
