New Peacock Programs for July 2024 - All the Movies and Programs You Need to See

Peacock's July is dominated by coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris; Peacock is the broadcast home for the latest Olympics, and that's the focus of nearly all of the streaming service in July. Still, if you're not interested in the Olympics, there are a few other notable first-runs in addition to the usual lineup of new episodes of NBC, USA, and Bravo shows and newly delivered movies.

WWE's latest event, "Money in the Bank," will be streamed live, and Bravo's long-running reality shows "Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles" and "The Real Housewives of Orange County" will air their new season will premiere. In film, the Amy Winehouse biopic "Back to Black" will make its exclusive distribution debut.

A drama series about ancient Rome and a reality show about bears round out this month's Peacock highlights.

Can a bear be on a reality show? For the brown bears of Alaska's Katmai National Park, just because they don't know they are in a reality show competition doesn't mean it isn't happening. This three-episode series applies the style and approach of reality TV to nature documentary content, and follows the bears as they prepare for hibernation.

"Our Flag Means Death" star Rhys Darby provides a comedic commentary on the bears' efforts to prepare for a very long nap. The show gives points for "meatiness, ingenuity, and guts" to the bears as they attempt to gain nearly 200 pounds for hibernation. For fans of the reality show, this is a hilarious and informative way to experience the wonders of nature.

Premiering July 11 on Peacock

Filmmaker Roland Emmerich is no stranger to large-scale spectacle. In this new series, Roland Emmerich, director of such blockbusters as "Independence Day" and "The Day After Tomorrow," turns his attention to ancient Rome and the brutal gladiatorial games that fueled the bloodlust of Roman citizens and helped the elite class maintain power. Anthony Hopkins plays the Roman Emperor Vespasian, and is flanked by Ian Leung (Game of Thrones) and Sarah Martins (Death in Paradise).

The series was developed by Emmerich's longtime collaborator Robert Rodat. Rodat worked on Emmerich's films Patriot and 10,000 B.C., and adapted the classic nonfiction book written by Daniel P. Mannix in 1958. Gladiators have been a screen staple since the dawn of cinema, and Emmerich put his distinctive, over-the-top stamp on this venerable genre with The Dying.
