When I don't know what to watch on Netflix, I look at the streaming service's Top 10 Most Watched Movies. While this type of ranking of streaming services does not guarantee that a movie will be a hit, it is a great source of information to cut through the noise.

So how do you know which movies deserve the hype? That's where we come in. Here at Tom's Guide, we've narrowed down Netflix's top 10 movies to watch right now. This list includes a documentary about divorced dad rock king Nickelback, one of the best Netflix original movies in years, and a video game adaptation that's actually worth watching.

The king of divorced dad rock is at the center of a new documentary, Hate to Love: "Nickelback," now on Netflix. The film follows the 25-year career of the Canadian rockers from rural Alberta to selling out packed stadiums. Their enduring success is a big middle finger to the band's outspoken haters, who have not stopped Nickelback from selling 50 million records, earning multiple Grammy nominations, and being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

But being one of the most controversial bands in music history is something Nickelback wears as a badge of honor. Featuring never-before-seen footage and lengthy interviews with members Chad Krueger, Ryan Peek, Mike Krueger, and Daniel Adare, this film is a must-see for Nickelback fans.

Netflix's best original film in years has held strong in the streaming top 10 since its debut earlier in the month. It has since dropped down to #8, but it's still worth a look if you haven't checked out Richard Linklater's sexy, nihilistic comedy thriller yet.

Somewhere between a breezy crime caper and a romantic comedy, "The Hitman" stars Glen Powell as Gary Johnson. He dons an elaborate array of costumes to convince his clients that he is a cold-blooded hitman before the police rush in to arrest him. But when a femme fatale (Adria Arjona) asks him to take care of her abusive husband, Gary breaks protocol. His desperate attempts to hide his true identity from her set off a chain reaction of theatrics, deception, and escalating stakes, with potentially deadly consequences.

In this veritable golden age of video game adaptations, "The Super Mario Brothers Movie" ranks alongside Prime Video's "Fallout" and "Sonic the Hedgehog" films as the best films ever to It ranks among the best films ever made. After stumbling into an alternate universe, Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt), a plumber wearing the iconic red hat, and his brother Luigi (Charlie Day) go from fixing a broken toilet to fighting Koopa.

Separated from his brother, Mario embarks on an epic adventure in the Mushroom Kingdom, making new friends along the way like Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), Donkey Kong (Seth Rogan), and of course Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy). He must defeat the evil Koopa King Bowser (Jack Black) to save his family and friends. The Super Mario Brothers Movie is full of joy and Easter eggs, albeit a bit subdued.
