"House of the Dragon" Season 2 continues to the season premiere in the most thrilling trailer yet

The "House of the Dragon" Season 2 premiere kicked off a new chapter of the "Game of Thrones" prequel with the kind of dramatic fashion you'd expect, leaving us for a full week to sit down to its shocking ending.

If you can't wait all the time to get back to Westeros, Max (our choice for the best streaming service) has dropped a new preview trailer showcasing what's to come as "Dance of The Dragons" really flies. For obvious reasons, we're completely veering from here into spoiler territory, so don't look at it (or read on).

When the trailer starts with Aegon II, the ruling king of Westeros, you know things are becoming a reality. From that point on, this ominous trailer is a snapshot from a dangerous strategic meeting, a snapshot of a dragon flying overhead, and a shot of a moving army, with signs indicating a dangerous conflict within the Riverlands.

As the fight breaks out properly, as things slip into chaos at the last moment, there is real momentum forward in the proceedings."Does that mean that Rhaenyra and black people are supposed to gain the upper hand, despite Rhaenyra's fear?" he asked.

"House of Dragons" Season 1 ended with the shocking death of Lucerys Velaryon at the hands of Aemond and his giant dragon, Vhagar (as you can see by reading the primer of "House of Dragons" Season 2).

In this new episode, Rhaenyra seeks her revenge. She is absent in the early parts of the episode and mourns her son. Back at Dragonstone, she assembles the Black Council and tells them that she wants Emon Targaryen.

Damon had requested that the black man act and go straight after Aemond in Rhaenyra's absence anyway, and this spurred him to take appalling action after consulting with his former lover, Maisalia, who was arrested for passing secrets to the High Towers. And hired a rat catcher (blood and cheese) and assassinated him.

The problem is that 2 assassins cannot find Aemond in the Red Keep, but are determined to claim the life of Prince Targaryen. In a harrowing sequence, they confronted Queen Helena and forced her to show which of her children were Prince Jellis, Aegon's direct heir, before slaughtering him in his bed. Helena fled to Alicent's room to deliver the news and found her in bed with Sir Christon Cole. Judging by the trailer above, the news of Jaehaerys' death is not going to work for everyone.

"House of the Dragon" Season 2 premiered on HBO with max on Sunday 6/16 at 9pm ET. New episodes will be broadcast every week until 8/5 (Mon).
