Fujifilm has just released the Instax Wide400, which was released for the first time in 10 years

Fujifilm today launched its latest instant camera, the Instax Wide400. It is the long-awaited successor of the Instax Wide 300 - one of the best instant cameras that came out 10 years ago, all the way back to 2014. The Instax Wide 300 has a more fresh look, available in a gorgeous-looking sage green colorway.

In terms of its appearance, the Japanese manufacturer gave the Instax Wide400 a more rounded look. Instax Wide 400 is an analog instant camera that shoots twice the width of Instax Mini film — the print is 4.25x3.34 inches and the image area is 3.89x2.44 inches. And you don't have to wait long for the prints to develop as they take just two minutes or less. The camera itself is 6.37x4.84x3.85 inches, making it Fujifilm's largest instant camera, but it's very light to hold at just 21.72 ounces. This is still heavier than the Fujifilm Instax mini99 (14 oz).

Fujifilm also introduced a new self-timer function that can be set in increments of up to 10 seconds, making it convenient when mounted on a selfie or tripod. But another new feature is a strap with 2 adjustment feet that can put the camera at 2 different angles, so you don't always need a tripod.

The Instax Wide400 retains many of the features of its predecessor, such as fixing the focal length of 95mm and installing a close-up lens for macro photography 40cm from the subject. You can also rotate the lens further to enter landscape mode for distant shots. Alas, there are no creative features like manual exposure control or double exposure mode. Some small cameras, like the Polaroid Go Gen2, boast a double exposure mode, so this feels like a missed opportunity.

Alongside the Instax Wide400, Fujifilm updated it five years after launching the hybrid Instax mini LiPlay. It now comes in 3 new colors: Matcha green, misty white and deep bronze. This instant camera doubles the printer as you can transfer photos from your phone to print — you'll no longer need to worry about Co

with 13 design frames and six filters, voice recording function to add QR code to print, 5 megapixel 1/5 inch sensor and many more features. It remains the same. The most notable updates to this camera include a USB-C charging port and a simplified firmware update that can be made via a smartphone app for iOS and Android

The new Instax Wide400 will be available for purchase from 7/12 for purchase149/£129, while the Instax mini LiPlay will be available from 7/19. Available for purchase at available169/£149.
