This supernatural sci-fi anthology series has crashed the Netflix top 10 - and it's 100% on Rotten Tomatoes

Netflix's top 10 shows have remained somewhat the same for the past few weeks, with "Bridgerton" dominating the number one spot. "Sweet Tooth" and "Eric" also remain close to the top, but that could change with a recent addition to a supernatural anthology series called "Joko Anwar's Nightmares and Daydreams." It's currently ranked 10th on Netflix's list and has the potential to jump to a higher place. 

Each episode offers a standalone story that explores the boundaries between science fiction and the supernatural with thought-provoking themes. From mind-bending twists to ordinary people facing strange events, the series has set new standards for the storytelling of the anthology. In addition, we can not ignore the fact that we are called "Stranger Things" or "Squid Game" baby.  

Obviously, success on one of the best streaming platforms underlines the growing desire for weird, genre-blended content.1 But what is "The Nightmare and daydream of Joko Anwar". Let's delve into the plot and what critics say about this Netflix hit.

The official synopsis states, "Everyday people get caught up in the otherworldly problems of the supernatural series Joko Anwar's nightmares and daydreams." The anthology follows characters who take drastic steps to save money, their families, or themselves — but instead unspeakable danger from other realms

Anwar, known for his distinctive style and mastery of fear, interweaves an unforgettable strange story. The series examines the fears and anxieties that lurk beneath the surface of everyday life. This anthology format allows each episode to feature different characters, settings, and plots so that viewers are always kept on the edge. 

What's striking about "Joko Anwar's Nightmares and Daydreams" is that it already has a 100% perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes (as of May 19), but keep in mind that it's from five sample reviews. This means that it can change based on what other critics say. 

Prumit Chatterjee of Digital Mafia Talkie said, "Nightmares and fantasies are definitely hits. All the stories are incredibly relevant and they are so ambitious visualized that I can't help but applaud.Meanwhile, James Marsh of the South China Morning Post said: "Interweaving elements of horror and science fiction with more grounded stories about Indonesia's checkered past and persistent economic disparities, what comes out is significantly more than the sum of its parts.

Jonathon Wilson of Ready Steady Cut also went straight to the point: "Fans of the genre are offered a rich banquet here. Push in.

The reviews are positive, but some share some weaknesses.
