Android15 is nearing its full release after Android15Beta3 became available earlier this week The main focus of the current beta is to provide platform stability so that app makers can prepare their software for a full release

1 of them, as discovered by Phone Arena, is adaptive timeouts On May 4, an early developer preview of Android15 showed that the adative timeout feature would be part of the update, providing an upgraded screen timeout control

Currently, Android phones have a feature called screen attention This feature tracks the time your phone is inactive and automatically locks the device after a set time 

Adaptive timeout is supposed to automatically turn off the screen early if you are not using the device As an example, if you put your phone down, the screen will turn off immediately instead of waiting for the screen Attention tool to start

In May 4, we didn't know how this feature would work, but we assumed that the phone's front camera or some kind of Face ID technology would be involved This seems to be the case with the Android15beta3 implementation of adaptive timeout, with timeout controls ranging from 15 seconds to 30 minutes  Still, as of this writing, it's not entirely clear how this feature will work in the Android15beta3 build As reported by 9to5Google, early tests had a hard time getting the adaptive timing to work perfectly In some cases, Pixel phones used to test the functionality continued to default to the standard screen caution tool that already exists 

Hopefully Google will get an adaptive timeout that works alongside other quality of life features that have appeared in the android15 beta release Extending battery life is especially always necessary, as more powerful, hungry processing chips eat away at the phone battery

Currently, there is no fixed release date for version 15 rather than the final build of Android3, but Google's timeline seems to indicate a release towards the end of the summer
