The 48th edition of the Copa America is almost upon us. The United States is ready to host a tournament of 16 teams, with 10 teams from South America and 6 teams from the CONCACAF Federation taking part. Copa America 2024 starts on Thursday 6/20 with Argentina and Canada matches scheduled. The International football tournament is scheduled for a grand finale to be held in Florida on 7/14 (Sunday) and will be held for about 3 weeks. The tournament starts from the group stage before moving to the knockout round. These high-stakes games start with the quarter-finals of 7-4.

America is the host country of Copa America 2024. The Copa America was held for the second time following the Special Centenary edition of 2016. 

This will be treated as a warm-up event for the 2026 World Cup. Most of the matches in that tournament will be held in the United States, with Canada and Mexico each having a handful of matches.

There are 16 teams participating in Copa America 2024. That number includes all 10 CONMEBOL countries: Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Ecaudor, Colombia and Venezuela. They are joined by 6 sides from CONCACAF - America, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Panama.

Argentina and Brazil are the main contenders to win the Copa America 2024. Argentina lifted the World Cup trophy 1 and a half years ago, they are also reigning South American champions. It's hard to see past Argentina this summer because Lionel Messi is still an important part of the team.

Of course, Brazil will have something to say about it. Doribar Junior has a promising start as manager of the national team, but this could be a tournament where the baton will eventually be passed from injured Neymar to Vinicius Junior. 

Elsewhere, Uruguay has a decent blend of youth and experience. Marcelo Bielsa has introduced the usual dynamic and intense style of play, so his team should be worth watching. There could be 1 or 2 surprises in Colombia.

The home advantage can help the United States do better than expected, but Mexico will also be well supported throughout the tournament. Copa America 2024 promises to be competitive.
