One of the 93% best sci-fi horror movies on Rotten Tomatoes gets a spin-off

As the sci-fi horror film M3GAN (with a 93% Rotten Tomatoes rating) expands the world in a spin-off, the entertainment news circle is generating a lot of excitement today.

This new installment continues to explore the advanced technology that made the original a standout hit, and has the opportunity to delve even deeper into the potential of AI. What also made it so successful was a unique story, which shocked the audience with a fascinating story of a lifelike AI doll that becomes rogue.

"M3GAN" focused on a fantastic robotics engineer named Gemma (Alison Williams) who created the ultimate android companion for kids. Struggling to connect with her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) and manage her own tough job, Gemma decides to introduce a lifelike doll called m3GAN into their lives, hoping that android will provide some emotional support.

However, as android's AI continues to evolve, it will begin to interpret key directives to protect Cady more aggressively and autonomously. Once kind and friendly dolls begin to show increasingly violent and unstable behavior.

The original film has such a strong foundation and we know that it has a lot to work with upcoming spin-offs. But what is the film actually about, and will it be released soon?

Production companies Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are developing an upcoming spin-off called "SOULM8TE" (another fun title that plays with letters and numbers). It's said to be an erotic but terrifying story that expands the successful "M3GAN" universe, and is also described as a '90s domestic thriller, but with a modern, technical twist.

The movie's official synopsis states, "SOULM8TE centers around a man who gets an artificially intelligent android to deal with the loss of his recently deceased wife. Trying to create a true sensory partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless love bot into a deadly soulmate.

Kate Dolan, who directed the horror drama "You are not My Mother," directs "SOULM8TE." In a statement announcing the spin-off, Dolan said: "Basically, I see this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness. Despite advances in technology, there are persistent human truths that we cannot escape, and I look forward to delving into those depths.

James Wang (founder of Atomic Monsters) also expressed his excitement for this project: "SOULM8TE is a thrilling and fascinating to the m3GAN universe and we are excited to partner with Kate to bring this story to life with her unique cinematic vision and perspective." It's a good idea.

That's all the plot details we've got so far, but it already sounds exciting. GIVEN THE SUCCESS OF "M3GAN", IT'S ONLY NATURAL THEY WANTED TO DO MORE, SO THIS SPIN-OFF IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF A POTENTIALLY HUGE FRANCHISE

"SOULM8TE" WILL BE IN THEATERS IN 2026/1/2, SO WAIT A BIT UNTIL THIS THRILLING SPIN-OFF TAKES OVER THE BIG SCREEN. Please contact us. But do not worry, it is not the only exciting release on the horizon.

In 2023/1, discussions began about the sequel to "M3GAN" and its potential direction. By the end of the month, "M3GAN2.0" was officially announced, the release date of 2025/6/27 was announced. The plot details remain under wraps, but fans are looking forward to Alison Williams and Violet McGraw returning to the lead roles.

There are 2 planned projects in this universe, but we are still waiting a bit until we can experience them. For now, check out these best horror movies on Prime Video or see what the fuss is about in nicolas Cage's new horror movie (Spoilers — 100% on Rotten Tomatoes).
