Just a few weeks after the release of "Inside Out2", a Bloomberg report revealed that Pixar's president, Jim Morris, was heading for a change of pace in the animation studio, according to Bloomberg, Morris's new strategy for Pixar is "to make people feel like they once loved about Pixar" The same report also confirmed that in addition to the recently released sequel, it will also get a "Inside Out" spin-off series called "Dream Productions"
From the reactions I've seen online, I know that I wasn't the only one who saw this news in horror Does this mean that Pixar will avoid new projects like "Turning Red" and "Luca" — both of which are worth looking out for in Disney Plus — in favor of becoming another franchise machine trotting out larger, more bunkable IPs? Disney already has to fight the fatigue of superheroes on the Marvel front, and I certainly don't think the Mouse House would want people to turn on Pixar, either
We currently have a few bits of information to go off, but the more I think about it, the more I think about it The more I think this "Dream Producer" series (which is obviously coming our way early next year) might go straight to my watchlist
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly in mid-6, Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter gave us some tips about the series This upcoming spin-off takes us back to Dream Productions and investigates the power dreams that hold in a little more detail
"We're done," the doctor said "It will come out next spring I don't know if there was a specific release date, but for the first film, don't forget to go to Dream Production to see how Riley's dream is made It semi-explains why they are so weird We have continued to explore the power of dreams and how it affects us in our waking lives So it's pretty cool We don't know which character will appear or what story or theme it will deal with So why am I looking forward to it The Pixar team produces instant classics at their best
The first "Inside Out" was one of the studio's most well-received hits (it still holds a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes), while "Inside Out 2" proves that Pixar hasn't made a phone call to the front of the sequel
The new film is currently being played in theaters It has won a lot of praise from viewers and is currently busy breaking box office records Throwing new emotions and dealing with the next stage of Riley's development was a great way to put a spin on the original concept I really suggest the desire to continue experimenting with what the promise of seeing a lot of dream production crews that studios don't just continually mine this particular series unless they have another worthwhile idea in the store "turned over" as the privilege offers
Yes, "Dream Productions" is not a "new" idea in itself It was the first film fixture, but by its nature it offers many possibilities for animation studios As we learned in "Inside Out," the workers at Dream Productions turn memories into dreams that play like movies in our minds when we sleep This means that by design, the crew of "Dream Productions" is constantly juggling all sorts of weird and wonderful ideas
I feel the possibilities are limited only to Pixar's imagination, a tool I want to rely on In the dream concept, there are tons of ranges that are playful and experimental Who knows, we were able to mix media and experiment with different types of animation and watch "inside out" TV shows Or it could be a piece of some kind of genre, and each episode is exploring a certain genre: one minute, Riley may be experiencing a nightmare, the next, she's going on some kind of epic adventure, she's falling in love, etc There's space to introduce Riley's hero to become a movie star, or to introduce other departments beyond the addition of "Inside Out2"
Yes, this is all speculation, and yes, I could have imagined a very different "flip-over" spin-off from the one in development, but I don't want the studio to count until it arrives I'm really excited to see what they have to offer, and I hope I'm not alone on that front
