Once Android15 is open to the public, thanks to a new diagnostic page discovered by Android expert Mishaal Rahman, you can easily check your phone's display, battery, and storage to see if it's Tess.

Looking at the recently published Android15beta3 code, Rahman can find the device diagnostic page on a test Google Pixel device. It was the first time that I had been able to do so. It's not part of the latest beta official, so it was a bit convincing.

Device Diagnostics under the System menu in the Settings app has 2 subsections.The first section is "Component Health"."If you select this, you can check the battery and storage status of your phone from here, either on a screen with different colors to look for broken pixels, or on a touch test that changes color to find possible dead spots.

Or you can check the battery and storage status of your phone from here. The current capacity of the battery is given as a percentage of the original capacity, the number of charging cycles, etc. For storage, you will get an estimated lifetime measured as a reduction rate and a capacity reminder.

The other part of device diagnostics is evaluation mode, where one phone can be used to check for possible failures on another phone.1 When you select this option, you will be asked to specify whether this is a trusted or evaluated device, and a QR code/scanner will be displayed accordingly.

Currently, according to Rahman's research, only 2 display tests are available in evaluation mode. But when it's done, you get a report card to summarize the results, suggesting that in the future more tests can be run this way.

It is worth noting that these tests, or versions of them, are already available on many Android phones by dialing a specific code in the phone app. The device Diagnostics menu puts these in a more accessible place, but with a more user-friendly interface, it counts on something.

Running a health checkup on your device is always a good idea, especially if you can do this easily with the final version of Android15. However, smartphone makers are becoming increasingly important as they encourage them to keep their devices longer, with up to 7 years of software updates, if they are lucky enough to own the latest devices from Samsung or Google.

However, repairing a broken or worn-out device found in device diagnostics is another problem. The repairability of the phone has seen recent improvements, and leading phone manufacturers offer parts, tools and repair guides for certain models. However, modern smartphones are not designed for user maintenance, so unless you are an enthusiast or particularly brave, you probably will not be able to do any repair

According to Google, Android15 is nearing final and stable form as of Beta 3. However, it will not be officially launched until the Pixel9 series arrives, and it is in line with the company's previous launch pattern. Even if the final version goes live, it could be a few more weeks or months until your specific phone gets an update.
