"The Nightlife of Love"

hi chain. Today's puzzle sent me in the wrong direction as I started looking for things related to other night activities like clubs, bar hopping, theaters and cinemas.

After emptying these and wondering how spangrams without "night" exist, I found night words spelled across the board from top to bottom.

So I realized that the puzzle was actually about nocturnal creatures, and I was away. Sure, my knowledge of night animals isn't great (and it's 3 characters long, so the "owl" wasn't mixed up), but it quickly became clear that "spot the animal"

skunk was the first thing I noticed in the lower right corner, and the flurry of 'A' on it was a big clue for AARDVARK. It was a great experience. The coyote in the upper right corner successfully completed one side of the board.

The wombat first fell to the left and was written backwards at the top. The leopard curled around it and left what was hidden at the bottom.

I actually tried "possum" before, but was surprised that that wasn't the answer. This is part of the opossum, and it makes sense that a single "O" remains to the right.
