hi chain. I really struggled with the puzzle today, as it's about American chain restaurants and, as I wrote earlier, I'm British.

I ONLY HEARD 6 OF THE 3 PLACES IN THE PUZZLE TODAY, BUT LUCKILY I GOT A FREEBIE AT SIZZLER TO GET THINGS STARTED. The 2 'Z' in the upper left corner did not leave many other options.

The checker at the top right was my next, but at this point I didn't know that neither was a food chain. The only time I figured out what I was looking for was when I got the subway - only 2 out of 1 that made it on this side of the Atlantic.

CHILIS was another THING that was (easily) in THE UK, so I got IT next. And at this point, I was ready to get spangram: chain links spelled from left to right across the center of the board.

I had two left to get, and thankfully I'd heard one of them: outback, below the start of the spangram it left Sonic I'd never heard.

Given my limitations on this topic, I am very pleased to have been confused without using any clues. It wasn't pretty, but I finally got there.
