Among the streaming service's vast library of content, the little "N" logo that denotes a Netflix original film is no guarantee of quality; while it is commendable that Netflix is not afraid to take risks with some of its original films, Netflix cannot escape the fact that many of its films are quite terrible.

However, there are a few gems among the generic rom-coms and schlocky action films. Frustratingly, these excellent films often slip under the radar and do not get the attention they deserve. So, we've picked out the seven best Netflix original films of 2024 (so far), and if you're a Netflix viewer, these direct-to-video films are a must-see.

If there is one area where Netflix consistently shines, it is in original documentaries, and "The Best Night in Pop" is one of them. Directed by Bao Nguyen, this feel-good documentary chronicles the recording of the earworm pop song "We Are the World" in 1985. Written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, the iconic song was certified quadruple platinum and won four Grammy Awards (as well as an American Music Award and a People's Choice Award).
