oops! It looks like the Galaxy Watch FE has just been confirmed by Samsung

We have heard a bunch of rumors about possible Samsung Galaxy watch FE over the past few months. The idea is that this smartwatch offers some premium features, but is lower priced than a full-fledged Galaxy watch. Now it seems that the presence of the watch may have been accidentally confirmed by Samsung itself.

Both Samsung UK and Latin America have live support pages for low-cost smartwatches with model number "SM-R861" (via MySmartPrice). These pages are still up [at the time of writing], but we expect that they may be removed once Samsung realizes what has happened.

These pages have very little detail, so they are not so important. The Faq itself is very common and related to other Samsung wearables. This does not tell us anything at all about what this mysterious smartwatch is. In fact, the only reason we know that the SM-R861 could be a Galaxy Watch FE is thanks to a document published at the FCC last month.

Android Police notes that the product number is similar to the one found on the Galaxy Watch4 (SM-R860), suggesting that the two smartwatches may have some similarities. It would certainly track with Samsung's "fan version" product with less impressive specifications and features compared to the flagship.

There's a lot to like about the Galaxy Watch4, even a few years ago. Featuring a slim design, body composition analysis, this watch was one of the first smart watches to offer an improved version of wear OS. On top of that, it was much more affordable than some of its predecessors, which is exactly what the FE range is supposed to emphasize.

We hope that problematic things like inconsistent battery life have been fixed this time. Samsung, after all, had almost 3 years to solve its problem. But this is all just speculation, and not much has come of rumors about what the Galaxy Watch FE might actually have to offer.

We expect the Galaxy Watch FE to be unveiled on Galaxy Unpacked next month — which is rumored to be happening on 7/10. Other devices apparently along the way include the Galaxy Watch S7, Galaxy Watch S7Ultra, Galaxy Ring, and the foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6. Needless to say, it can be a very crowded event.
